I'm hoping to see more Silas and Malachi on the court together in all games but especially this one, it takes a lot of the burden off of Silas and he can play off ball. We can't have another turnover fest from him and this should help a great deal. Solo and Braylon start together but basically all their minutes after that should be staggered with one of them playing with Jayden.

Joson Sanon after struggling all season is playing his best ball and hitting his threes, he makes St. John's much more formidable. Jayden should be tasked with shutting him down.

Tarris and Zuby make their teams go. Whoever stays out of foul trouble will be a major factor in determining who wins.

I don't see either team running away from the other in this one. I expect a close game which likely comes down to the wire.

1- Take care of the basketball.
2- Defend with tenaciousness, but be smart.
3- Don't allow St. John's to bait you into committing fouls.
4- Establish Tarris's inside presence early.
5- REBOUND THE BALL.
That was what Hurley said yesterday. My question is will the refs call this like the last game or first with them? I’m sorry but it’s a big factor.

Like playoff baseball every possession will matter. I expect St John's to press early and often but I also expect us to play our A+ defense.

The biggest factor in this game will be AK. I think he understands the gravity of this moment. He will have 3 or 4 3's and finish the night with 18 points. Silas won't score as much but will play great D and finish with a bunch of assists. Reed and Reibe will almost split time (23/17), as i think Pitino will focus on getting reed in foul trouble early. Reibe will step up like he did against AZ. Ross wont score as much but I agree with you, will focus on guarding Sanon or whoever ends up looking like the guy. Malachi will have the best game off the bench and Bray and Solo will both have B+ offensive nights. I think that's enough for us.

Why is the Big East tournament on Saturday night these days? Kind of weird that I’m watching the Atlantic 10 semifinals right now and the Big East championship starts in two hours.

I thought we used to play it on Sunday back in the day. Sunday championships are for the new “big boys” and the American & A10 now I guess. The Big East tournament is still by far the best one and it’s really not close at all.

Big East has been playing on Saturday nights since 1996. 30 years.

BE chip has been Saturday for at least 30 years. ACC and Big12 chips are also today. Of the p5 only the sec and BIG are tomorrow.

Keep the free throw disparity as low as possible. That will decide this game.
I’m not sure we can control that at all. We need to make threes, feed Tarris and make the few free throws that we get. I really don’t have a lot of confidence going into this just because the league lets everyone abuse us. We’ve got to play really well to overcome that against a really good team. When we beat them at home, there wasn’t a team in the country that would’ve beat us that night. We played beautifully. Kind of like the way they played us at MSG. We won’t win this game with anything but an A performance.

Ha. I guess I’ve been wondering for 30 years. I thought the ACC was on Sunday not too long ago. Didnt they used to call that the “granddaddy of them all”?

And don't forget Take care of the basketball. It needs to be said again. St. John's feasts on live ball turnovers to fuel their offense and get other teams into foul trouble.

All I ask is for James bReEDiNg to be kept as far away from MSG as possible. Ship him to Antarctica. UConn has to do their best and not reach in. Yes, I know St. John's will reach in a lot and not get called for fouls, but the UConn players cannot look at that and think they can reach in as much-they will definitely get called disproportionately more for fouls.

Gameplay should be generally the same as it was last time. St. John’s is not an offensive juggernaut they rely on easy points. Points off turnovers, rebounding put backs, and the free throw line.

The keys are.:

Limit turnovers, especially live ball to limit transition opportunities.

Rebound the ball. Keep them to one and done and off the offensive glass.

Defend without fouling.

Match their energy and physicality.

Run when you have the chance. Don’t let them set their defense.

What I don't understand is the 6:30 start time. Used to be later at night at like 8:00. Gave it a more dramatic effect starting at night. What does FOX have after the BET final?

When the ACC title game got moved from Sunday to Saturday nightthey didn’t want to compete with them. The Big East when they got the tv rights was kinda lacking the star power programs after the breakup.

Pitino is probably going to counter by limiting Reed's touches. This game will be different.

It was Sunday. The BE didn’t like that the BET winner or results in general didn’t get credited by the NCAA seeding committee a few times. And honestly the committee can’t be blamed for that too much. There’s not enough time to rework the brackets. That’s especially true if there is a very unexpected champion.

So the BE switched to having the final on Saturday thinking that’d be better for its teams. It sure helped the 2011 Kemba team moving up to a three seed after the 5 victories in 5 days.

1) I have to think Pitino has something to take Mullins out. He had 9 and 11 the first two games. So we need Alex and Solo to shoot the ball.

2) Reed has to neutralize or beat Zubi.

3) I think Silas has our best game.

The BET was never on Sunday. In fact, the NCAA discouraged (Selection) Sunday championship games because they needed time to prepare.

If Mitchell is on Mullins like I expect we're going to need a big game from Solo tonight
