If it wasn't for the inappropriate racial reference in the text sent to Oriahki, there wouldn't be anything wrong with the text. All you have to do is compare the reactions of Alex and Roscoe to the trouble the program is in with the reaction of Shabazz to know that Alex and Roscoe are not true Huskys. The going got tough and Alex and Roscoe bailed out. Women, children and traitors first. I hope that neither Alex nor Roscoe is ever allowed to play in Coach's reunion games. As with all of the Uconn men's basketball alums I've had the privilege of meeting and chatting with, if even just for a few minutes, Shabazz would run through a brick wall for Coach and the program, while Alex and Roscoe simply ran out the door.

agreed. but at this point, i think alex probably has as much hate for uconn as it seems uconn and its fanbase has for him. i have no idea, but my guess is that alex wouldnt want to come back for any alumni event.

Alex and Roscoe were great for us in our championship season and Roscoe at least played very hard this past season for us. I am not sure what happened with Alex-maybe he needed more time to adjust with let's wish them well and we'll rebuild with the solid bass we have. I loved what Shabazz had to say!

ur gonna blame roscoe for Uconn and coaches uncertainty? I'd probably be pissed too if Coach put in a player over me that never got it going (daniels). Who knows. Roscoe already won a championship, maybe now he wants to be a focal point on another team

I don't know, seemed pretty immature and nasty to me, even without the racial reference. He has a right to do what he thinks is best for him. Name-calling and taunting is nothing to be proud of or to justify, IMHO.

RS and AO are doing what they feel is right for them, to hell with coach and the program. Bazz is a throw back player and man and sticks to his committment. The all for one and one for all mentality is no longer in vogue. Perhaps we need to look at our recruiting and make sure we are getting the right kind of MEN not players. Good luck to AO and RS with their choices. That's what life is all about, making choices. I would get in a fox hole with Bazz, but the other two not even the same rest room.

In this day and age, it seems like every player thinks they have a legit shot at the NBA. Hell, recruit Bradley Hayes was saying that he was planning on TWO years of college! Blame it on the family, the media, AAU, recruiting process, scouts, rankings, the NBA-with their one year removed from high school-rule. Whatever. There are a lot of players with inflated egos and people with something to gain, pumping those egos.

How many guys enter the NBA each year? 30?
Figure 10-12 from overseas now.

That means that the best 15-20 players in any given year could reasonably expect to make the NBA.

So if you're DeAndre Daniels and Rivals has you at 10 overall, you probably figure you're comfortably in the "going to the NBA" group of kids. Any kid would. You're 18 and full of beans, and you're an optimist.

Of course, Scout had him at 31, which, retrospectively, was substantially closer to the right ranking.

I distinctly recall that he planned to spend 2 years at UConn.

I really hope that he is incorrect, because the only way he's spending only 2 years at UConn is if a miracle happens to his game or he transfers at the end of next season, with the latter being substantially more likely.

I love the kid's potential.

Speaking of potential - the NFL QB named Leaf who was drafted right after Peyton Manning was just busted for major federal drug crimes and is looking at 50 years in the slammer after busting out of the NFL in 4 seasons. Ouch.

Coach K gave him a "2 year plan" at Duke to get him in the NBA, but I don't think Calhoun made any sort of promise like that.

I remember the quote from Daniels as well. It was an article after he committed to us. He was asked if he was one-and-done and he essentially said he hoped to stay for two years.
