When you're missing open 3s, there's no mystery. We have guys shooting 45% from 3.

They missed 15 yesterday.

You also don't know much about SMU if you don't know that Moreia is their best big.

You can't accept that sometimes you don't play your best. A team shooting 45% from 3 misses 15 shots. That's ballgame.

They went 6-21 from 3. If they shoot their season average they go 8-21. That's a 6 point difference, but correcting for the 2 offensive rebound chances on the misses, it's a 5 point swing. They lost by 9. So it wasn't ballgame.

They lost it on defense and on offensive execution. Niels Giffey had good comments: http://www.uconnhuskies.com/sports/m-baskbl/recaps/022314aai.html

It's the specific guys who were missing. Shabazz, Daniels, Niels. Omar took one. He's taken more in most games. My math may be off but 45% of 21 is 9. The inability to hit forced them to drive into the trees and miss very difficult shots. When UConn can't hit from the outside, it's in big trouble, because Olander, Brimah and Nolan can't score down low.

On the season they are 194/497 = 39% from 3. http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/team/stats/_/id/41/connecticut-huskies
