Couldn't disagree more. Futuristic and bada$$ and recruits and players will love them. I love that when the teams line up at scrimmage the opposing line will have those piercing husky eyes staring at them. Genius design.

my problem is more with the husky itself - it's so mean looking it looks more like a wolf than a dog. I liked the old dog head better.
as far as the helmet, since when does a logo appear on the 'stripe' part as opposed to on the side?

I'm sure 'some' recruits like the design, some probably hate it. Some recruits pick a school because of a major, some because of the coaching staff, some because of the league they play in, some for proximity to their family and yes, some because of the uniform.
Personally, I feel the #1 reason recruiting will either improve or decline, is OC Weist's offense.

I like the new helmets, especially the powerful, intimidating eyes of Jonathan...will mesmerize the opponents . . . go Huskies!

Totally agree that the new helmets will help give UConn a nasty swagger. Doubt that any opponent will lower a shoulder into Stewie when they know she's going to be giving back double with the mean Husky eyes sending them to doomsday. And a great and much needed change for WCBB, which is finally realizing how the game is played nowadays.
I guess that is a matter of perspective. I look at it and see a happy smiling Siberian husky, but I love actual huskies and that is how they look when they are happy. The very same image can look fierce and ready to attack. To me that is the genius of the design.

nah, that doesn't look more wolfy than canine. Wolves are actually better "poker players" with their expressions than many dogs. People can usually tell whether a dog is upset by a number of physical clues - we're used to "reading" them, and we incorporate that into designs like this. Wolves, to humans anyway, are more subtle.
Why do I believe this? My older daughter and her husband have 5 wolf-hybrids. I've visited them many times, and actually "baby-sat" them for a few days. They aren't the same as dogs.

Sounds like our family is into both the ursine and canine behavior, hence kind of a beardog situation. Though there are many teams that have a bearcat nickname such as Binghamton and Cinci, none have adopted the beardog mascot. Looks like you have cause to rouse some love for the beardog (shown in polar bear's embrace) as a good mascot. I think UC Santa Cruz could do with an exchange of its banana slug for a beautiful beardog, to say nothing of such mascot-challenged schools as Syracuse, Georgetown, and Gustavus Adolphus.

I don't get the outrage that the new logo is too mean-looking. Been seeing that complaint all over social media. Look around - it's not like mean-looking logos are a new concept in college sports. Louisville has a snarling cardinal gritting its teeth for Pete's sake (and since when do birds have teeth?). And if you think it looks like a wolf, it's because Siberian huskies and wolves can look pretty similar, especially in illustrations.
As for the helmets - no doubt they're bizarre, but bizarre helmet designs are the rage these days, so at least they'll get noticed. Plus if potential recruits like them and it helps influence them to play for UConn, then better for us.
