Now the discussion. Mullins is being projected #7 in next year’s draft, though that can change, he’s a stud and would start most anywhere. Furphy shows that he’s very good. It’s quite possible that Jaylin breaks out this year no way he doesn’t start. We can argue about who starts but Hurley has loyalty to Ross for PT and Koroma and Millender have skills. This is going to be very challenging getting players the minutes they should have for development especially Furphy. Some might say he should bench it till next year but we could lose him without minutes. Reibe automatically gets his bench minutes as does Smith.
I guess defensive intensity will be what gets players on the floor this year.

Best case scenario for this team w/out counting the freshmen:
Bear can play consistently and without fouling- that will get him drafted IMO because he averages a double double if he plays w/out foul trouble;
Solo takes yet another leap, which would place him in line for All-America status;
Alex thrives again as a #3 and with added floor space;
Demary is TN Part II; and
Jaylin and Ross finally show on game day what they apparently have been showing in practice for two years. That would be scary.

If those things happen, we are a title contender.....but then we have the freshmen:
Mullins the #7 prospect??? if that happens, we may average 100 per game because we will always have sharpshooters on the floor at all times;
Furphy: this Summer tourney sold me on him. But remember, he does not have to be Mullins. We already have Mullins. He is the cherry on top of the cake because anything he brings will be added surplus; and
Reibe: I think he will benefit if Bear can take the next step. Reibe would be best this year if his role is that of Samson two years ago. And he is already better offensively than Samson was, so there's that.

This all adds up to a freaking hell of a team. And I did not even mention Smith. I think this rotation will go 9 deep comfortably, with a 10th man coming due to foul trouble by the big men.

My guess is we go 9 deep like usually. Koroma emergency 10th man at the 4/5.

This was my initial projection for minutes a while back. It will need to change based on what I saw from Furphy versus team USA...someone at the 2-4 is getting pushed. Or maybe not. I don't know... bit practice is going to be bonkers competitive on the wing.

SF: Mullins (25), Stewart (15)

Is Furphy our third string point guard? (Obviously not just that - but is he a smaller version of when Villanueva was our third PG)?

Hard to believe Ross isn’t cracking the rotation? Whoa. Hopefully coach finds 10+ along with Furphy minutes

No minutes for Ross?

Great culture guy, but he hasn't shown a single high-major skill oit there when he got minutes. Stewart is leaving him behind and Demary, Mullins, AK, and Furphy (from what we saw recently) are all better than him. Only so far you get being a practice hero.

Jaden Ross could be having a great summer and land right in the thick of the rotation, who would know? I don't see much news coming out of HuskyLand. I did read that both Stewart and Ross each added 10lbs of muscle and according to staff 'they now look how we want them to look going into the season.' I think Stewart at 225 and Ross at 215.

Stewart will enter camp as the fifth starter. I have no idea if he will start and/or finish the season that way.

We're not playing 12 men once the serious part of the schedule starts. Period.

I’m guessing a starting 5 of Silas, Solo, Braylon, AK, Reed

Consistent bench pieces: Malachi, Stewart, Reibe

9th guy: Ross or Furphy if needed

Break glass in case of emergency: Millender, Koroma

Practice and develop: Jacob Ross

Nope. Hurley is loyal and Stew could have gone to a lot of great programs but did not. He gets to start but if he falters…..we got options.

Not really all that concerned with how things fall beyond 8 guys. 9-12 aren’t the difference makers. I just can’t see Stew seeing majority minutes at the 3 as the season evolves. We can’t have 3 non dribble drive guys at 2-4, again. If you’re telling me that AK/Stew/Solo are all of a sudden going to be deadly off the bounce, I’d say bs. And we can’t have only one guy on the floor that can create off dribble or we’ll stagnate. My hopes are that once Mullins gets up to speed he’s at the 3 and Stew is playing backup 4 and the 3 when Silas/Smith in the back court together.

How are we feeling about those 15mpg for Reibe?

Demary(30)-Smith(10)
Ball(30)-Furphy(10)
Mullins(25)-Stew(10)-Furphy(5)
Karaban(30)-Stew(10)
Reed(25)-Reibe(15)

30-Demary/Ball/Karaban
25-Reed/Mullins
20-Stew
15-Reibe/Furphy
10-Smith

Think you could see Stew lose 5 more minutes to Furphy, but I’ll give Stew the benefit of assuming he’ll be a super sixth man for us that plays close to starters minutes. His versatility will be key for us off the bench, and it’ll help him stay on the floor.

Smith will play more in some matchups as well, and we’ll see some Smith/Demary/Ball lineups. I wanted to believe he’d get at least 15, but taking minutes away from Demary or Ball doesn’t make sense. Maybe he takes 5 of furphys minutes?

But this is about what I think the minutes per game for each guy will be, give or take obviously.

Ross and Koroma are next in line if there’s injuries on the wings/forwards. Don’t see how else they get on the floor in our main rotation.

I am shaky about Mullins time

Mullins/Stewart seems like the only remotely questionable call on the starting lineup and it feels like a bit of a coin flip to me at this point. Yes, Hurley has prioritized folks that stuck around, but Mullins is also an absolute stud 5-star that probably fits what they want to do with the offense in the starting unit a bit better.

Silas 20 / Smith 20
Ball 30 / Silas 10
Mullins 20 / Stew 10 / Furphy 10
Karaban 30 / Stew 10
Reed 30 / Reibe 10

30: Silas / Ball / Karaban / Reed
20: Smith / Mullins / Stew
10: Furphy / Reibe

Ross was used last year to shut down an opposing player from going off with his athleticism. Have to see if Mullins or Furphy can do that.
