I'm a Knicks fan and the furthest thing from a Carmelo fan but to blame him is ridiculous. He's been unbelievable the last month and a half and all those games mattered.

I'm a Knick fan and Melo has bought into defense on a consistent basis now. He was the Eastern Conference player of the month of April and commands the double team which gets guys like J.R. and Novak open to knock down the 3. What I don't understand is why that front line can't work. On paper it's the most talented front line in the league and history shows you can win with a talented 3,4 and 5 in Bird, McHale and Parish. Now before anyone misquotes me, I'm not saying we have 3 hall of famers on our roster, but please name me another frontline combination in the NBA with 2 multi time all stars and a top two pick for this years defensive player of the year?

As a long time suffering Knicks fan, the day the Knicks find someone stupid enough to take Melo off their hands will be they day the franchise takes a huge step forward. Its crunch time and as usual the real him shows up.

Seven out of eight years his teams have been eliminated in the first round and he's shot around forty percent to boot. What a waste of big bucks.

I wouldn't call him a waste, but I have always wondered why he isn't called out like Lebron James is. Anthony bullied his way off of his team and has never brought his teams anywhere. I guess he is getting a lot of leeway for winning that title at Syracuse.

I think part of the reason the froncourt doesn't work is because Melo needs room to operate on the block and with Amare in there it gets clogged. Also Amare is not what he used to be and is especially ineffective now that he's hurt, he's a defensive liability. I love Tyson Chandler but it's clear that he's laboring, he just isn't healthy.

This just isn't true. Anthony took his team in 2009 to the Western Conference Finals. That was not an impressive bunch, and he led them through Dallas and took the eventual champs to 6 games--and he averaged 27.5 in that series.

The West is loaded and his team was terrible. This year, he's got a perhaps never the same Stoudemire, an injured Chandler, and a bunch of 3 point shooters. The team isn't terribly talented with all the injuries they have.

Unfortunately for them, Amare's contract is terrible even if he was fully healthy. They'd need his contract off the books to put together a team that could get through a healthy Miami, Chicago, or OKC in the future (and I don't think they could get by Boston this year, but we'll see how much longer they can play at a high level).

Chandler isn't injured he has the flu,and Amar'e didn't looked injured yesterday. He just doesn't have the same hops he had year ago. It's sad, he's not even 30 yet.

On the topic of injuries, Lin has been practicing one on one with one of the assistant coaches and has been doing well on his recovery. For the sake of the future of this franchise I hope the staff doesn't rush him back for the playoffs.

What bubble do you live in? Up until he finally started getting his game going once he moved to the 4 when Amare went out, he was getting tted on by the media and fans alike and had people comparing his NYK tenure to Marbury's.

Whoever compared him to Marbury should be punched in the face. Marbury had a terrible reputation as someone who wasn't a team player and hadn't won anything until this year in the China league. With all of Melo's faults, he won in college and also received high praise for his play in the Olympics.

If anything, most Knick fans were disappointed with Melo's play before Woodson took over.

Maybe he is getting killed in NY, but everyone else just seems to not make a big deal of it. I would think that the guy would be ripped on nationally for not delivering anything.

I know Chandler has the flue but he also has a bunch of other injuries that are hampering him, he would never tell the media that because that's not the type of guy Chandler is but if you watch closely you can tell he's not close to 100%.

After starting this thread, I have to followup by saying I hope the 2nd game in each series is more in line with the competitive match-ups I expected. Other than the Orlando-Indiana game, they have all been pretty much walkovers. And I have to say, as a fan, how disappointed I was with how flat the Celtics were. And Rondo gets ejected. Unbelievable. They did well to make the final score respectable; but they were out of it for most of the game. Also does anybody know what A.J.'s status in Indiana is. He was a DNP-Coach's decision for the first game, and I don't recall even seeing him on the bench.

The Knicks may be one of the most over matched teams I have ever seen in a playoff series. Also, very impressive win by OKC after the two close victories.

Yeah. Wow...anyone suggesting that that series would have been tight must be feeling really stupid right about now....

I almost feel bad for the Knicks. They have a mess on their hands going forward and I am not sure how they fix it. Stoudamire is turning into a huge boat anchor that is going to hold them back.

Even with a full squad the Knicks still wouldn't beat the Heat but that team has had way too many injuries at this point to compete. Would've liked to have seen a full squad with Lin & Shump in the backcourt, Shump wouldn't stop Wade but he would provide more resistance than what Fields & Smith have shown.

As for the playoffs themselves, the 1st round has been pretty disappointing, I was hoping the Mavs would protect their homecourt to make that a series but they're done now. Its almost a reversal of their series against the Lakers last year, Lakers looked like they would win the 1st 2 games(although they were at home), dropped them then got dominated games 3 & 4. Mavs could've easily won the 1st 2 games against the Thunder and now it looks like they've given up. Grizz/Clippers & Hawks/Cs are really the only 1st round series that interest me now.

You have to admit the Thunder are fun to watch. Durant,Westbrook,Harden, and Serge "Get That Shot Outta Here!!!" Ibaka and a cast of thousands really bring a high energy game. I hope they go far. I thought one of the commentators comparing their game and home arena to Sacramento back in the day when the Kings were a load was right on the money. And seeing Mark Cuban sitting there with a mopey frown on his face is worth the price of admission anyday. :)
