I gotta admit...I'm kind of nervous about the game tonight. UConn's coming off an emotionally draining loss to Syracuse and the Dunk is going to be as loud as its been all year. Those kids will be excited. I really hope UConn doesn't come out sloppy, unfocused, and entitled, otherwise this could be a rough night.

If UConn does come out and play as hard as they did on Saturday, they should win by double digits. If Drummond can grab 14 boards against Syracuse he can grab at least ten againt Providence. Roscoe, Oriakhi, and Drummond need to attack the glass and the rim.

I say UConn wins by 5 but I could easily see them losing.

I agree with your assessment. I think thsi is PC's national championship. Frankly it needs to be ours, too. Losing this game would really put UCONN back on its heals as far as the NCAA tournament is concerned. It would be 7 losses in our last 10, a losing record in the Big East, and a really really bad loss.

Yup. This would be worse than the Rutgers loss. Cooley will have his kids ready to go like he did against Louisville. I predict PeeCee has a 10 point lead at some point in the first half but Uconn is able to come back and win by 5+.

I'm mighty nervous. I feel like it's a do or die game already.

They shoot the 3 ball well and they get most of their points from their guards: Council, Cotton, Coleman, all of whom are going to present big matchup problems for SN, SB, and JL. I feel like this is a team that uconn doesn't match up well against, like Cincy or Marquette.

They actually have basketball to talk about over there instead of the same recycled posts about how Noel's dog is black and white (a sign he's going to Providence)

It's Providence's Flint Michigan Megabowl.

Jackie Moon:
"On Saturday, we're gonna be playing for the Flint, Michigan Megabowl. White Pants?"
White Pants (Brian Husky):
"Yeah, I don't know if I understand what you mean by Megabowl?"
Jackie Moon:
"It's a Megabowl. What's not to understand? This is history in the making. You're gonna wanna tell your grandkids and their grandkids and their grandkids. And when they look back in the annals of history, they're gonna be talking about three things: discovery of fire, invention of the submarine and the Flint, Michigan Megabowl."
White Pants:
"Right, but still the game doesn't count."
Jackie Moon:
"The trophy's 12 feet high! And it's glorious! I've seen it. Oh yeah, and when we win the game, that big gun's gonna shoot off."
Turtleneck (Ed Helms):
"The cannon doesn't actually fire. It's a relic."
Jackie Moon:
"We're gonna win the Megabowl. Saturday! Eight o'clock! Flint, Michigan Megabowl! Flint, Michigan Megabowl! Flint, Michigan Megabowl!"

If UConn runs, PC wins. If they are patient and run offensive sets and pound the glass. UCONN wins.

You're assuming that Uconn is good at "running offensive sets." They are not. I assure you that Uconn will try and run as often as possible. They have struggled mightily to score when they don't. Guys like Drummond, Boatright, Lamb, and Napier are much, much better players when they can get out in the open floor. I think the same can be said for many of PC's players as well - which is why transition defense is awfully important for Uconn tonight.

And as far as this year is concerned, this might as well be our Super Bowl too given the ramifications of losing this game.

The difference is Providence will rush the court if they win. We'll just let out a giant sigh of relief.

An interesting tidbit is that PC's coaching staff has UConn's former assistance Andre LaFleur as well as Brian Blaney (George's son).

This is UConn's must win game. Cannot lose this.

Henton has been playing well for PC, can't let him have a double/double, Roscoe should guard him. And Coleman is the one I worry about on the perimeter.

PC tends to play small, we may have use more of a 4 guard lineup.

Giffey plays kind of like a guard, don't you think
i think gif kind of plays like a sophmore who made the varsity team in hs, hesitant and always giving it to the older(better) kids on the court and only once in a while shoots when hes brutally wide open. always tries to make the hustle plays to try to impress coach but when coach plays him for more than little pockets of time he is extremely exposed as not being up to par. i think hes a 3 and i would rather play scoe and develope dd then gif.

Maybe a teeny, tiny attempt to be fair? For a young man who had a huge game to help us beat Kentucky in Maui and played about half of the game for a national championship to be compared to a high school player is a bit much.

It may be a bit much, but it is a simile--things can be like other things without necessarily being demeaning, especially when they are in the same sport. And I think that if the point is that Giffey is overly tentative, then he is right. He hasn't been as good this year as he was in flashes last year.
