I find the whole kitchen = sexist thing kind of weird -- at least passe. When my daughter was about 3, we visited a bunch of family. I cook. My brother cooks. My eldest sister's husband cooks. We finally went to my folks' house, and I remember my wife saying she was glad that our daughter was finding out that girls can cook.
The woman behind me in the grocery store this evening had ten boxes of hamburger helper or something. She also had juice boxes and stuff, so she wasn't just cooking for herself.
My wife was part of a mom's club, and 10-15 years ago they had a poll of their members about the division of labor. Cooking was divided about 50-50.
As I said, I really don't get the kitchen as a metaphor for gender roles or sexism.
