Gotta give the AAC pr department their props. That video was pretty cool. They've been all over Twitter promoting the conference. Gonna be a good season. Makes the league feel a easier to swallow.

Teddy Bridgewater should come back for senior season to be all conference in three leagues. That seems unpossible.

Yesterday we profiled the returning QB's in our countdown to #AmericanKickoff. Check out this QB Sizzle Reel

This new league is obviously biased against us. Both Cincinnati touchdowns they showed were against UConn and they didn't show any throwing touchdowns for UConn, only a pass where Chandler "floats it up." Bias! Bias! Bias!

Yes, I'm kidding. We didn't exactly have a lot of throwing touchdowns to highlight last year from memory. And I had almost forgotten that Cincinnati trick play until I saw this again. Ugh.

Anyone else notice that the Whitmer highlight on that video is a pass actually thrown by McEntee?

Just looked again and you're right. That's the one that was "floated out there" which sounds exactly like a Johnny Mac pass. The second clip was definitely Whitmer though and was a much nicer ball.

Anyone notice that Houston QB's run? Have to admit, that was impressive.

I actually thought it was him too. It was after that stupid trick play that got Whitmer his second concussion. JMac finished the game. Should have recognized that wobbly throw right away as one from him!

I try not to be too negative about our conference situation but, it irks me to see us matched with Temple as a rival. They are the closest to us in the AAC but it still P's me off. Hard to believe we have to pine for the "good old days" of hating Cuse, RU, etc.

Well, at least toward the end, the video pictured us as having a rivalry develop with USF. The games between USF and UConn have always been good, and I feel like that is a nice rivalry waiting to happen anyways. The only way to get rid of the talk about UConn and Temple being rivals is for us to beat them every time. We can't drop games like the 30-16 one or the overtime one last year and expect not to be considered rivals...

Are any of our games actually good? I feel like they are all rock fights. The South Carolina bowl game and the ND game were pretty entertaining. Most of the other games I've watched were more like battles of will with us winning or us losing in boring fashion. I am looking forward to the TJ era along with some better QB talent.

Haven't been around long enough??

Exciting/Entertaining... Pitt OT win, USF win in snow as time expired, beating WVA in 2010 are the first three that jumped into my head.

Those games were entertaining in that they were competitive... but might also be characterized as rock fights too! I think Hoophound wants us to consistently hang 60 on our opponents. I'll settle for 40 in Weist's first season.:p

No, I saw all those games. I meant it in the sense that our games aren't exciting to non UConn fans. It has been a boring brand of football.

I have been as homicidal as anyone about this league, and more importantly our revenue situation. We are where we are, and continued whining about it is pointless. Nothing is going to change on the conference front for years, and possibly ever.

The AAC has to do the same thing the Big East did 10 years ago. Put interesting teams on the field and play exciting games. Get ratings up. That leads to more revenue, viability, and potentially a call up to one of the major conferences. We do need at least a few of the other AAC teams to get better. We can not be in a terrible conference, because no one will watch those games, and then we are really finished. I think Pat Hill's scheduling motto of anyone, any time, anywhere, is the right approach for UConn too. We need quality non-conference games, even if we have to do some 1 for 2's or sell road games. We need to remain relevant, and to do that, we need to play, and beat, quality opponents.

Definitely agree with you that we need to win and play other conferences to improve our brand. However I think it is difficult to compare it to the early big east. The power five(really four) have learned their lessons and made it more exclusive. I am not saying it can't be done but the approach will have to be different

Funny you should mention that..
