It is ridiculous.

Give the low majors the first week of March, Monday-Saturday to do their thing, use the days as they will (eg: tourney runs from Monday-Wednesday or Wed.-Sat, or even use the full six days (and include days off), etc.).
Give the top 10 conferences the second week of March, Monday-Saturday to do their thing, use the days as they will. The last tourney ends around midnight, Saturday. That locks in the first Monday of March as the start of the conference tourney madness, every year. The second Monday of March is always the start of High major Tourney madness.

Give the committee one solid day, Sunday, to really put the brackets together properly, considering the champions from the previous day. Selection Sunday continues, like normal. That way, the second Sunday of March is locked in as a "holiday' of sorts as it already is known, Selection of Sunday.

As it stands, things are too tight with tourneys ending within hours (SEC, A10) or even minutes (AAC, B10) before Selection Sunday and it feels in part, (too) rushed. It makes too much sense to work and people will say "blah blah blah, major games are on the weekend NOW so that means more money. But this is March Madness, the money will pour in no matter what.

There really isn't much for the committee to decide today. The bracket was probably in place this morning. Only team playing today that can steal a bid is Cincy so if they win the last team in on their board comes out.

Otherwise today's games only impact a few seeds and they have already figured out ahead of time what happens depending on outcome.

Selection Sunday needs the few championship games today to lead into the Selection Show, it's a college basketball day.

I agree with this, and it really takes away the impact of the Sunday games.

Alabama and LSU were both comfortably in the field, but seeding should absolutely be affected by the outcome, but the logistics of the committee don't allow it.

Even more egregiously, if Houston loses this game, that should knock them down a seed line, but again there's no way for them to change it at this point.

Disagree was way more fun to travel for conference torrent in NYC when it was Thurs-Sunday. With byes, Friday, Saturday & Sunday games meant you could attend all & miss 0 work.

I mean, UConn has been screwed over a few times with seeding after winning on Sunday. Thankfully ONE of those times still led to a 'ship but still, lots of teams would benefit, in seeding, with more sensible scheduling. Plus, if the tourney starts on Thurs you are still missing 1, perhaps 2 days of work if there is a Thurs noon game. Start on Wed., what is one extra day when you are already missing 1 or 2 days? 2 or 3 days, or 1 or 2 days of work missed, not a huge difference and the marquee games can still be on the weekend, Friday and Saturday semi-finals and finals matchups when the best games/most intense generally happen any way.

Great and true response.. Enough Said!!!!

Of course the Big Ten final goes to OT. They might still be playing by the time the brackets are announced. Or would CBS wait until the game is over?

So what if one of these teams wasn't an at-large team? Then they'd definitely have to wait until the game was over.

Of course the answer is to start games earlier and not have any games starting after say 2:00.

I used to love the old BE Tournament- Thursday to Sunday - less days from and school. If your team didn't play Thursday evening you could skip it.

strongly disagree. love the lead up to the selection show. they spread out the power 6 chip games over saturday and sunday for a reason. the seedings dont vary much based on these results anyways, nor should they. the brackets are practically finalized saturday night.

what exactly is getting decided here? no matter the outcome illinois and osu will be 1s or 2s maybe they swap positions. maybe cincy steals a bid from cuse. LSU might have moved up a line....it's minor tinkering the committee doesnt have to start from scratch.

Screw work, screw school
March is basketball
Nothing better than spending the week in NYC - I like the fact that we can leave NYC Sunday morning

I like it, it's madness I tell you, madness.

And what college basketball fan wants less college basketball? Especially after the pandemic?

HANG HIM HIGH

Really glad the OSU guy hit that 3 to extend the game and expose the absurdity of this.

The bracket cannot possibly take into account the outcome of this game, even though seed lines should be at risk.

or ate least have all sunday championshi finals @ noon. we all gotta wait for thi stupid big 10 game

why not? the winner could easily get plugged into the 1 line and the loser the 2. or maybe the results doesnt matter and illinois stays a 1 and osu stays a 2. either way we are talking +/- 1 seeding line

it's not like the committee is talking into an empty void right now they are waiting for this game to end before the selections show starts
It won't always work that way.

What if you have a bubble team that ends up winning?

What happens if you have a team like us, who would be a 7 with a loss or a 5 with a win?

The Committee should just come out and say "we don't consider the Sunday games".

i dont see why all that cant be taken into consideration. we are talking about 2-3 teams moving up or down 1 line. if cincy won the committee wouldnt say "sorry the game was sunday so even tho they got an auto bid we had to leave them out because sunday games dont matter"

You presumably create 2 brackets, one with UConn entered at 20 on the S-Curve and one at 28 on the S-Curve
