On Zanetto's LockedOn today, he was talking to his guest Jeremy Schaap.
I trust what Schaap says about athletes and the media:

He said some version of this:
"Talking to Vince Carter 5 years ago, Vince, being a veteran, was beyond shocked when, during the halftime of a regular season game, the younger players would rush to the locker room, pull out their phones, and check what the Twitterverse and all socials were saying about their first half performances.... and these are NBA players!"

So.... yeah. But no one reads the BY right?......

When I attend a UConn game, and at the halftime check my phone to see the BY comments in our chat.... (aww heck cutting this off now as it sound's like a Peppermint Patties commercial).

Maybe some do idk. But I’d bet the ranch their family and close friends do. And report back to them.

But is our invite to the Big 12 still imminent, Marky? Take a lap.

Dan Hurley says negativity on social media is a problem

Game, set, match

Then again, many boneyarders think they can give Dan coaching advice, so there's that too

It’s OK to give Hurley crap, he can take it.

It is not OK to utterly trash one of our own players. If you wanna be critical of someone then at least do it nicely but saying “this kid’s a zero “ or that kid “doesn’t belong on the floor “ is just brutal.

I always say, D1 players are the top .5% of all high school players. Just making it to D1 means they've succeeded.

Well if he would just go double bigs…
Which obviously makes no sense, now if he would bring in Sangare with Johnson and Reed, and go triple bigs, he'd be on something...

Social media negativity is everywhere in sports. Affects every sport and every level. When athletes go out and perform in the spotlight they no doubt want to check the reviews of their performance. Gambling on all sports has also become rampant, and when someone loses a bet they go online with all the venom in the world looking to rip apart someone they want to blame for their gambling loss.
