I totally agree on kareems' (26 ppg, 16 rpg) UCLA team as number one. re-dunkulously awesome records.

Too bad the ‘73 NC State squad was on probation, because otherwise I think we’d all view those Walton UCLA squads differently than we do now.

1999 is #17.

It's not a bad list BUT, the 2004 team was better than the 1999 team.
Better talent wise from top to bottom and when everything was clicking they could probably look more dominant but 99 was probably the better team. They played incredibly well together with everyone knowing their roles. Jake was the best pick setter we ever had and a stout defender, Freeman was tough, Ricky was probably the best perimeter defender we ever had and the best defender in the country, Rip was the best scorer in the country, and El-Amin was that dude. That team had a very real chance at going undefeated if they didn't have the little Rip and Jake injury and they beat what was considered an all-time team in Duke.

The ranking for us seems really fair, actually surprised they have us ahead of Ewing's G'Town and Magic's MSU.

Best individual college teams I ever saw:

UNLV from either year, really
Duke in '92
Kentucky in '95-'96
Houston in '82-'83

Two of them didn't win a national title, but whatever. How Houston didn't manage to win one is something i'll never figure out two Hall of Famers on one team and a guy in Benny Anders that was as good as anyone. That Duke team just had an aura about it that kind of set the bar for Duke teams. I still think it's their best team ever. Kentucky was a personality-less, killing machine. Watching them play basketball was just like watching Borg replays.

UNLV was probably the best one I ever saw, though. They absolutely beat the soul out of teams.

Nice to see some teams from long ago. USF, Bill Russell, UCLA, 64-65 team. Not sure about UNC from 57... they probably were cheating back then too.

The injuries on the team that year which lead to the 6 losses are what prevented that team from being included on the list.
Yup. When that team got healthy and caught its stride I thought it was easily one of the best 3 teams ive seen in my time watching college hoops (1990) and I still believe that. This may not be a popular opinion but 04` team that showed up in March beats `99 by 10. I think they also beat Dukes 90s squads but is a toss up with that 1990 UNLV squad and that UK 95? team.

The 2004 team belongs in the top 25. Agree with @Towney007 that some of the best teams didn’t win a title. A lot of luck involved in winning a title.
