There's not really even very clear delineations between pro and amateur. She could have been an absolute nobody or a star.

When I was competing in MT before I was a lazy slob, it was incredibly difficult to find fights. Someone would be 17-0 but actually suck because it's all from the weird events with like 4 fights in a weekend (USA Muay Thai does many of those). Some other guy would be 3-2 and a way, way better fighter because it was all one night events for legit promotions.

It makes it easy to sandbag. I'd show up to one fight and feel bad for my opponent 2 minutes in. Then in the next I get some "amateur" ringer from Spain who flattened me in the first round.

This group trained out of New York - Academy Five Points. And, they put on a lot of NYC events. Those events were fantastic, with excellent match ups. But, the owner would give me tickets to other events, and it was exactly as you described.

One guy they always had at their events, Andy Singh, (fighting out of Extreme Muay Thai) was definitely amateur for far too long. Amazing to watch that guy fight.
 
I'll throw a name out there, Super Agent Scott Boras. Owners and GM's despise him, fans despise him for his antics. However, his clients love him, because he gets them the highest contracts, but in doing so it's destroyed sports as many of us remember.
 
I’ll throw one out there.

Bill Belichick.

Treats the media like garbage. Players hated playing for him. Documented cheater. Eventually ticked Kraft off and Kraft is a scumbag. Pats crumbled under him after TB left. Now in this weird 24 yr old girlfriend zone.

Funny I saw Bruce Smith at an airport a few years back and tried to say hello and he was a bit of a jerk. Maybe that entire Bills team is sour. Bruce was still in amazing shape.

HS Buddy of mine shook OJs hand a couple days before the murders. He was working a summer job in a factory for Swiss Army, which his dad was a CFO for and OJ was on the board of. OJ was taking a tour of the factory. He did say OJs hand felt kind of arthritic, but he was a nice guy.

I know a former major league player who when I asked him about other players he would always say they were all great guys. I finally said come on there must be one guy who is a jerk. He immediately said Pat Burrell. I had read that he was a complete jerk and disliked by all the players .Guess it’s true.

They're all great to the people who love them, they probably smelled the stink of New Englanders from you all.

I used to have a younger lawyer at my firm who grew up in Brentwood with OJ's kids. She was in the dance recital with OJ's daughter the night of the murders and her family has home videos from that night where you can see OJ in the audience. Kind of creepy.

Worked at Accenture with a ex-football player from Duke: Bobby Hurley absolutely the nicest guy he ever met; Laettner the absolute worst person he ever met.
