I think it's about academics and research. Small private universities may have good academics but can't compare with big public universities as far as research goes (for the most part, obviously there are some like Duke for example that are good in both.)

PSU is not leaving the B10 for the ACC. I could see ND/UConn as a package to the ACC.

That would be sweet for UConn. For me, that is the best end result for our football and basketball programs.

Upstater, I agree with you that the ratings are a joke! My point is that the top of the ACC, Duke, UVA, UNC, BC are as good if not better academic institutions than the Big 10. Thus, PSU could justify a move to the ACC would not hurt academics.

And I'm saying they are not. They're just not as good. Duke, UVa, UNC are really good. But those are the only 3 stellar ones. They are more than matched by Michigan, Wisconsin, Northwestern and Penn State.

As long as Texas keeps it's own network, the egos at the Golden Dome won't let ND join a conference.
