im surprised this forum hasn't realized what the meaning of changing the game means, it means that players in high school and younger will try to be justa s athletic as Griner is and dunk the ball. As we are starting to see, more girls are attempting to dunk the ball like Griner does. Your recruit Stewart even likes to run accross the court and dunk the bank now, more and more girls will be able to dunk the ball. Nneka this past year was trying to do the same by dunking the ball on some stanford video... Griner is influencing current and younger basketball players to dunk the ball and be more athletic even if they are tall, thus changing the landscape of the game since no one before her has really been able to throw down a dunk like she does. Girls now want to be able to do dunks like Griner does... tomahawk, two handed slams, one handed drop step dunks... which are much more difficult and require more athletic ability. perdiod.

....Being exceptionally tall is not the only way one can "DUNK"........however if your 7 feet tall you can touch the rim with no trouble so dunking is not problem....Remember Spud Webb, 5"9"" tall and dunks with ease....I'm 6"3"" and dunked with ease, but it came with a price..hours spent in the pool with weights and on and on....What we are going to see is more attention to flat foot elvation...this is key in rebounding..look at SD what would 8 more inches of vertical do for her and BS (who can get up now) what would 8 more inches do for her, right now I think she could give BG all she could handle and with that extra 8 inches, BG would shake her head in amazement.
So look for schools to recruit a lot of 6"4's and above and then condition their vertical jump..there is where the girls game is going!!! A-La ..Twin Posts..Twin Towers, call it what you want!!! Should be exciting!!!

Brittany Griner has really improved since her freshman year, even between last season and this season, and I give her and KM a lot of credit. But I can't see girls girls stressing over whether or not they can dunk. Look at how many dunks BG has had in, what 118 games...seven, isn't it? At least BG tends to dunk more in the flow of the game, unlike Parker, who seemed to look for spotlight dunks, such as against us, in our house, on national tv, some years ago.
I think players like Breanna Stewart dunk in practice because it's fun, and BG enjoys herself dunking in warmups, which is fine. I just don't see dunking becoming a regular part of WCBB. In the WNBA, maybe BG will dunk every game, who knows? But as for college, I don't see that occurring.
BTW, Maya could dunk fairly effortlessly..in practice. She said her hands got to sweaty to do it in the game.
