Evers passes last year were off the mark by just a hair. Now that hair is the difference between a WR catching a slant in stride for a big play or being tackled right awayfor no YAC. Long winded way of saying Evers could improve enough to be really good in this offense. I was high on Joe F based on what we saw prior to coming here and what we saw in the NC State game.

Could easily see Evers throw for 2k and run for another 500 or so and that would be more than good enough to have a very effective offense next year even if it looks slightly different.

With the receivers we could have coming back next year, not having a QB who is an accurate passer would be a major miss.

Veltkamp will be an interesting case study for me. Really good numbers in terms of picking up yardage. Good amount of TDs thrown. But a ton of picks. What will the market be for him? I also wonder if he and Messer will look to go somewhere together if one or both portals.

If he does portal, I understand why people would want him. Not sure he would be my first choice though, even if he's within our budget. I've gotten used to a QB who doesn't turn the ball over, and would rather find another QB in that mould once Joe moves on. Who knows though, maybe Pryce could work some magic with him and get those turnovers down.

Different style but reminds me of the kid Liberty had a few years ago. He was projected by everybody as a P4 guy based on his numbers. Entered the portal and ended up at one of the G5 Texas schools where he wasn’t particularly memorable.

i should not have said payton manning. By that, I meant someone with absolutely NO legs, but who has proven themselves to be able to throw the ball well, consistenly. I don't care if they're an FCS quarterback.

When Mora first got to UConn, he said he liked a mobile QB. But he preferred a thrower who could run rather than a runner that could throw.

I have a feeling that may be why Roberson and Evers had starter reps.

Not sure If JF has changed his mind, but in the past Mora preferred a QB with more mobility.

He was not good enough in ‘23. But not every athlete fully recovers from a blown ACL, whether the issue is mental or physical. My point was it’s unfair to think we know that he wouldn’t have had a better career had that not happen.

I’m with Wisky on this one. If he breaks a tackle because of his size and strength, so be it. If he is more agile than a DB or LB who just whiffs on him, something is terribly wrong.

Of course they do. But if at 5’10”, 195 you’re not agile enough to deal with a 6’5”, 230 pound QB, you’re not agile enough to play at this level.

Who said serviceable? If you are a talented backup QB sitting behind a freshman or sophomore, it's time to get started in your career. Serviceable? How about Max Brosmer, when he was at UNH, Fagnano from UMaine (was he servicable?). Or the QB who went from South Dakota State to Iowa.

Just need to get an arm and enough mobility to keep defenses honest.
