Not great!But... But... But... Mora recently fired himself, what kind of look would that be? 😉
Makes up for losing our winning streak against Owls. Started a new one, though. One thing I didn’t note the first time but should have. We went 6-0 at home, we went 3-0 on the road in places that started with a B (Buffalo, Boston and Boca Raton) and 0-3, all in OT, at places that started with a letter other than B.
Better'n BocaSo playing in the Bronx would be ideal? 😀
I would take Veltkamp in a nanosecond, but that’s not the point as I don’t know how much he would cost, who else wants him and who else is available for us. If your point was you want a game manager more than a gunslinger in concept, I’m fine with that conceptually and I’m sorry if you thought I was unfair to what you wrote (as opposed to what you were thinking) and was snide.Dude if you're going to come at me with some snide attitude you might want to make sure you actually understand what I posted. Especially when I've been nothing but cordial with you on here.
I never said we should "bring in another QB paid a fraction of P-4 money who will lead the nation in lowest percentage of throws picked." Never even implied that. For one, I have no ****ing clue what our budget is, because it's been increasing every year, and from what I've heard the goal is to continue to increase it. Do I expect it to be that of a P4? Obviously not. Do I expect it to be as low as it was when we brought Joe in? Of course not. It will be somewhere in between that and I'm honestly not sure what we are capable of bringing in. The only reason I even mentioned our budget is I said earlier in the thread I expect Veltkamp to get paid, and I'm not sure he will even be attainable anyways.
Regardless that wasn't even the point I was trying to make. "He wouldn't be my first choice, even if he's within our budget." It means I would rather have a game manager who puts up lesser numbers but doesn't turn it over. It means I expect Veltkamp to get paid because he threw for so many yards, but there are QBs who will be just as effective overall next year that cost less because they don't turn the ball over. It means if we are on a limited budget, we shouldn't be like Oregon State and blow the whole damn thing on one player so we can go 2-9 next year (OK, that last part was for the OSU troll that I hope is still lurking here.)
Do you disagree? Is Veltkamp the guy you want or something?
I’ll raise your Baton Rouge, and throw in a Boulder, Boone, and Bloomington. All places that would be fun to attend a game.Somebody get LSU on the line. Guarantee we win in Baton Rouge!!
Absolutely beautiful dayIt was in the eighties. It became cooler and more comfortable in second half once the sun was going down. Sun sets around 5:30 here. Thanks
there are a few QBs we played this year that I think would do well at UConn..Veltkamp is one…Minicucci…and Lonergan (Ok…he didn’t play that game…but he is on BC).I would take Veltkamp in a nanosecond, but that’s not the point as I don’t know how much he would cost, who else wants him and who else is available for us. I’ve got a feeling Evers might be a pleasant surprise next year (or not).
Evers passes last year were off the mark by just a hair. Now that hair is the difference between a WR catching a slant in stride for a big play or being tackled right awayfor no YAC. Long winded way of saying Evers could improve enough to be really good in this offense. I was high on Joe F based on what we saw prior to coming here and what we saw in the NC State game.
Could easily see Evers throw for 2k and run for another 500 or so and that would be more than good enough to have a very effective offense next year even if it looks slightly different.
Different style but reminds me of the kid Liberty had a few years ago. He was projected by everybody as a P4 guy based on his numbers. Entered the portal and ended up at one of the G5 Texas schools where he wasn’t particularly memorable.Veltkamp will be an interesting case study for me. Really good numbers in terms of picking up yardage. Good amount of TDs thrown. But a ton of picks. What will the market be for him? I also wonder if he and Messer will look to go somewhere together if one or both portals.
If he does portal, I understand why people would want him. Not sure he would be my first choice though, even if he's within our budget. I've gotten used to a QB who doesn't turn the ball over, and would rather find another QB in that mould once Joe moves on. Who knows though, maybe Pryce could work some magic with him and get those turnovers down.
So you'd settle for a hall of fame top 3 all time QB. Those are easy enough to find.i don't care much for dual threat qb's. id rather have a payton manning w no legs and an accurate rocket.
i'll take joe slow chops any day, over an indecisive running qb who keeps tucking it in and gets himself hurt in the legs, or worse, in the head. we already saw that movie.
go get a QUARTERBACK - a proven thrower, with the money we do have.
i should not have said payton manning. By that, I meant someone with absolutely NO legs, but who has proven themselves to be able to throw the ball well, consistenly. I don't care if they're an FCS quarterback. So you'd settle for a hall of fame top 3 all time QB. Those are easy enough to find.
When Mora first got to UConn, he said he liked a mobile QB. But he preferred a thrower who could run rather than a runner that could throw.i don't care much for dual threat qb's. id rather have a payton manning w no legs and an accurate rocket.

ahh..... well which one worked lolWhen Mora first got to UConn, he said he liked a mobile QB. But he preferred a thrower who could run rather than a runner that could throw.
I have a feeling that may be why Roberson and Evers had starter reps.
Not sure If JF has changed his mind, but in the past Mora preferred a QB with more mobility.
In fairness, Roberson played one and one half series on opening day before blowing his knee out. We have no idea if without the injury things may have been different.ahh..... well which one worked lol

and then he played in our entire uninspiring 2023 campaign after Joe went down.....?In fairness, Roberson played one and one half series on opening day before blowing his knee out. We have no idea if without the injury things may have been different.
