The View From Section 241 — Ball U

I have been yelling from the mountaintops that delaware is the next JMU. they're gonna be in the American or Sun Belt pretty soon, and will be an ACC backfill partner with us, when the time comes. 2 flagship atlantic coast Universities, in the atlantic coast conference... who'd've thought.

I get that JF is not Tom Brady and his stat sheet is indeed overall respectable. But there isn't really a stat for "clutch player". That's where I'm mad. At some point you have to grow out of putting easy balls in the dirt, especially when those misses could have been the key to us being 3-1 with a P4 win. 7 years is enough.

EDIT - for the record i like JF and 100% agree he's the best option we have.
What is this “flagship “ stuff? URI and UMess are flagship too?

? what's the problem with that word... yes UConn, UDelaware, URI and UMass Amherst are flagships... they are the premier universities representing their states, it's literally in the name....?

You called JMU a flagship. It is not. JMU is Central, except that the Virginia state college system is better at marketing than their Connecticut counterparts and makes their state colleges seem more attractive by naming them after colonial figures rather than directions.

JMU is certanly not. I did not say that.

I said UD is the next JMU (in the sense of FBS ascendence/quality of play). end of thought

New thought/scenario -
UD and UConn are partners for a future watered-down ACC; East coast Flagships in an East coast conference, which is an anomaly in a CR era where nobody's geography makes sense anymore.

If we’re not getting into the P-4, and if the NCAA would allow a football only conference, being in a G-5 league of UConn, Temple, USF, Army, Navy, UMass, Buffalo and Delaware would make some sense. But it’s not what we want and would take NCAA cooperation so not worth worrying about at this stage.

Don't know if this will ever happen, but I DID notice tonight a D-1 hockey score LIU vs. UD which wasn't bad for a startup program. Something like 4-1 against. Delaware is indeed very serious about this D-1 thing. Like you, I suspect a rapid rise is coming.
