The UNC muck [merged thread]

With the horrible looking emails now in front of the public, perhaps the momentum will build for some action to be taken against UNC. On the other hand, I'm also seeing reports that the statute of limitations has run out for any NCAA sanctions, so they may have a safe defense for sitting on their hands or just slapping more penalties on UConn for not feeding its athletes properly.

Reading this, I am struck by the utter cowardice and complete lack of academic integrity of the leadership of UNC . If there was ever a candidate for a university to be publicly humiliated and for its' leadership to be gutted, North Carolina is it.

Think Zorro beat ya IB with the muck thread below, though it is a link to another article on the report. I guess we can never have too many posts on the Tar Heel mess though.

So, what is the NCAA doing about this mess? Are UNC and the ACC too tough for them? They didn't seem to have difficulty punishing UConn for far less egregious violations. This situation is as bad as the NCAA has ever faced. The PSU situation was ugly; but, it may be that the NCAA's harsh punishment was driven more by media pressure than its own volition. Facing much less media attention on the UNC mess, will the NCAA continue to hide? If so, Husky fans ought to ask Mr Emmert how he can justify the punishment he endorsed for UConn.

The NCAA was too busy coming up with new sanctions for UConn because of the Mo'ne Davis incident. They couldn't be bothered looking into those minor academic integrity violations at UNC.

The Penn St. mess totally different. No need to get into it since we all know what happened. This is a academic fraud of truly epic proportions, yet so little coverage by the media. Why the hell is that? We were raked over the coals daily and consistently over nothing even close. UNC committed serious fraud for a long time. IMO not much is going to happen. NCAA is spineless against their favorites , we all know that so don't expect much in the way of any punishment.

And yet... UCONN is publicly eviscerated on the men's side for lack of a high enough APR, and are hit with a full year post season suspension. They lost a couple of recruits over it, and given it was right about the time JC was leaving and KO was joining, it made recruiting even that much harder. Gotta give the kids who stayed and kept their verbals a lot of credit...

Having a lower APR compared to the academic fraud and cheating is lime comparing a J-walking violation to mass murder - the differences are that pronounced and obvious.

The way this has been covered by outlets like ESPN compared to how they covered the UConn APR issue tells me that people are more upset by failure than they are by cheating.

Frustrating man! Heels , orange and now Duke has something going on and there is nothing , no to miniscule media coverage just so frustrating and hard to believe actually. They will get by easy and this won't even play out because it will all just go away.

Well, keep in mind that "winning isn't everything, it is the only thing."

Didn't have a clue what Muck was but my mother told me never to play in it.
