Anytime you can have a rapper who peaked 30 years ago guiding your program you have to do it.

I do love him as a fan.

Harbaugh has spoiled all the AD's who want results now. Frankly, Hermann has too. Harbaugh has Brady Hoke's recruits and the team looks completely different. Certain coaches can have that effect. One could here as well. Hopefully it's Diaco.
Diaco? Lmao.

Fuente and Ruhle are as good as gone after this season. There are so many big openings that that will create other openings and the carousel will spin out of control.
Rhule isn't going anywhere.

Rhule isn't going anywhere.
... until Rhule goes somewhere. If a bigger program with significantly stronger alumni, student, and fan support threw out a big offer, an undefined anywhere becomes markedly more likely.

A one year exceptional success doesn't define a coach. Most large schools, except Maryland, would go after a coach that has a history of success over 3-4 years. You don't know if this years success at a G-5 level won't hit a road bump the next year.

I wish Al Golden success as he moves forward. He did a decent job building Temple and was offered what appeared to be a dream job for any young aspiring coach. Unfortunately they didn't tell him about the investigation until after the contract was inked.

Who wants a job to turn around a program and then be told later, by the way....you're banned from post season play and will loss 'X' scholarships for the next "Y' years.

With his recruiting ties in NJ, Pa, and points South, he probably would have been a good replacement for RE.......better that PP anyway.

Amazing that a few years ago, the hottest coaching names on the east coast were Edsall and Golden, with both figuring as having top shots at PSU.

Best thing Al Golden could have done was fire Miami when that last scandal broke. He would have come out smelling like roses and could have parlayed the move into a bigger job.

The reason why Miami was good back in the day, is that they were cheating. They don't cheat anymore, so now they suck. It's basically a crap job now.

It's tough (likely futile) to try and perpetuate the "U" mantra of the past.

In fairness, the U was a national program when it was part of a true power conference. They are in the ACC now - the conference where BE teams go to die.

Butch Davis, Greg Schiano interested in UM coaching job
http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/college/acc/university-of-miami/article41421669.html

>>Former UM assistant coaches Greg Schiano and Mario Cristobal are among those who have interest in the Hurricanes head coaching job, according to close associates, and athletic director Blake James is expected to cast a wide net in his search for a replacement for Al Golden, who was dismissed on Sunday.

Three former coaches with UM ties — Schiano, Cristobal and Rob Chudzinski — are all expected to be discussed internally and could emerge as serious candidates. Cristobal and Chudzinski played and coached at UM.

Butch Davis, who went 51-20 as UM’s coach from 1995 to 2000 but has been out of coaching since North Carolina dismissed him in 2010, also has interest, according to friends.<<

The U is still a good, but not great job. Probably hard to win a NC in today's college football environment, but there is no reason that a good coach can't win 8 to 9 games every year in the ACC Coastal division which is probably the worst division in the P5. The U still gets good talent as their last 4 recruiting classes are rated 26, 12, 14, and 10 which means they probably should be ranked most years.

End of the day, Golden's offensive and defensive schemes did not take advantage of Miami's speed. Think about this for a second. Since Miami joined the ACC they have never played in the ACC Championship game, but Duke, Wake Forest and BC have.

Wow. That fact is actually an astounding example of how far the mighty can fall.

Golden was never a good fit & should have left when he had the chance. Right or wrong Miami has to have a coach that embraces the things that makes many former players loyal to the program, the flip side to that might land you in NCAA trouble .

He never had a chance to leave. His alma mater didn't want him and now it will be unlikely that he gets a chance at a "good" job anytime soon.

I think that Virginia might sniff around Golden a bit. He was a great recruiter there and they will looking for a new head man this off season.

Virginia could work, I just think it's a hard sell to any fan base to hire a guy who in almost ten years as a head coach has never won his league or a bowl game. I don't think he has ever beaten a team that finished the season in the top 25 either. His resume doesn't really show much and not being willing to seperate himself from Mark Donofrio is a really bad thing. Whatever Golden does next, he can't drag that guy around with him anymore.
