The U is a mess and what that booster did is the classic case of loss of institutional contral. That scumbag was on the plane with the kids for crying out loud. NCAA needs to drop the hammer very hard.

All it takes is the right coach. They suffered through two bad ones, one of them (Shannon) that was beyond incompetent. It takes time to rebuild and this isn't really anything that hasn't happened down here before so it is certainly repairable. This is like 1997 to me where all the same things were being said.

Big difference this time and that is that the University is not willing to tak ethe kind of people it did at their peak. Part of th eprima-donna's motivation for going to the ACC was exactly that. She wanted to clean up their act, but needed the money. With the ACC's equal shares distribution she no longer needed to win to make money and she was able to apply some standards to players they accepted, require players to attend class...little things like that. Of course they still have issues with their booster, but football players now have to actually be approved by admissions. In th egood old days admissions was told who to accept by the football program.

That isn't the case. they've had a number of guys who they couldn't accept who would have been starters back in 2001. Back in those "good old days" the head coach went to admissions with a list of players and they were in. that no longer happens at the U. They need to pass the admissions department. The booster thing i agree with you.
