The state of Mississippi will make NIL money tax-exempt.

We’re talking about universities in southern states who used to pay players by laundering money through churches in order to get an advantage, which was eliminated as soon as the playing field was leveled and schools with well-off alumni (B1G) were allowed to legally and directly pay players. Not to mention their broader social views. The entire region is a national embarrassment through and through
I'll let you in on a little secret, Big 10 schools were always directly playing players and their big dog prestigious Universities are cesspools when it comes to sports and morality.

I’m not a fan of the Big 10 but there is no comparison between the graft of the SEC and every other conference. The SEC has literally cheated its way into the mainstream and every other school and program that abided by “rules” were left in the dust.

Totally. If only the SEC schools were moral leaders like Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State...

As I mentioned, I'm not pretending the Big 10 (as well as the rest of the P4 schools and conferences) don't cheat. It's the level of cheating and accountability that is different.

What’s next, you gonna let me in on the little secret that slavery was also practiced in the North? There are levels to it.

This is truly a Mississippi thing to do. They can do this but they are the poorest state in the country and are at the very bottom in education. Glad to see they got their priorities straight.
They're only 49th in education, not 50th.

.-.
One of two things going on.

#1 The metric is bogus.
#2 They only care about scoring on whatever test that is.
There is a third option....what they did in 2013 actually worked.

Having lived most of my life up north but now living down south it's easy to understand why some southerners aren't fond of yankees.. Ironically, the northern HS kids are seeing the light and they are applying to southern schools in droves. I see more SEC flags from houses with kids in college in my NJ hood than I do northeast schools.

Wow.

If you can tell me what was going on at SEC schools that was worse than the stuff that was going on at those Big 10 schools I mentioned I'm all ears.

Did anyone ever read Death at an Early Age. By a guy who got all kinds of awards for the job he did teaching in an inner city elementary school. He basically taught to the test the state used to evaluate student performance (not learning, notice). His class out performed even some wealthy suburbs. In the end, everyone hated him. The other teachers did because he made them look bad. The administration did because the lost out on various grants to under performing schools, and the kids did because school was a miserable experience. All around great job.

Phonics is the current craze. In 5 years it will be out of fashion when it seems kids can read but don’t because it is such a chore.

The pomposity of some. There’s a popular sticker that says don’t NY my Fla.

So it’s not possible they did something that worked. The metric is bad blah blah blah.

That's nice. Had a niece who moved to Staples in Westport from the highest performing HS in Florida (West Palm Beach area). She had to hire tutors to catch up as the Staples kids were a full year ahead.

AND I have news for you. They aren't going to SEC schools because those are better schools than the schools up north.
