There is actually a logical reason for the SI Jinx. One only makes the cover of SI if they have done something extraordinary, reached a pinnacle, many times it's a once in a lifetime achievement like pitching a perfect game. Usually the only direction to go is down. The likelihood of attaining that same rarefied level the following week is not very high. Ergo, the SI Jinx.
