Can anyone remember when UConn did not have a sixth man that they could rely on? Or when they did not have a defensive specialist that could be depended on to lock down a hot player? I don't think this team has either.

maybe start bent or irwin or camara and have williams come off the bench

Apparently, a reporter asked the same thing to geno in todays post game presser.

Geno said the problem with CW right now is that when she does not have the ball, she is not doing enough to impact the game. Having her come off the bench would only reinforce the problem that she needs to score to be successful.

Yes, sorry to state the obvious, but it means that you have 6 really good players.
John Havlicek, Frank Ramsey, Kevin McHale- all on championship teams.
Shows depth of talent and it equates to having a spark off the bench.
Just a thought- maybe one of our problems is that the starters aren’t being pushed. They’re not afraid of getting pulled from the game.
Kudos to Geno. I loved what he did today. How fun would it have been if he had left them in the rest of the game and spelled them for a minute or two with the starters.
Newsflash- IMO there is almost zero difference between being a 1 or a 2 seed in the NCAA tournament. In fact being an underdog might help this crew.
Sometimes you have to break things down in order to build them back up. (My point about Phees’ J)

Or light a fire in her. Every D1 athlete wants to be in that starting lineup.

Seems to me there are four levels of players on this team:
The Leaders. Phee, KLS and Crystal. You can count on the most of the time to be really good (with exceptions, like the first quarter of yesterday's game, when they were not).
The Other Starters: CW and MW. CW is a freshman and disappears like one sometimes. I do not know what to make of Walker, who just doesn't seem to create much of a shot for herself.
The inconsistents: Molly, Kyla, ONO. You'll get good games from the some of the time, but do you really trust them against a good opponent? We're hoping so.
The rest: Camara and Coombs. Batouly tries really hard, but her shot isn't there yet. Getting better, but not yet. Coombs has defense and no offense.

So Where does the sixth player come from? Before you get to a sixth, perhaps the team would be better helped by finding a fourth. And, um, a fifth.

We were suppose to have a 6th man this year, her name is Megan Walker. Please don't forgot that AS kinda surprised everyone(including Geno) and bolted for the Pro's. Geno was clearly not prepared for this and I think when its all said and done this year its that turn of events thats going to be the difference of National Championship vs final 4 loss.

What surprises Geno is the change in the attitude and perspective of the new breed of players coming out of high school. In the past these types of surprises seldom happened to him or he had alternative options in place if they did.
