Tonight’s 8:00 pm committee reveal on ABC will probably have 4 SEC teams in the top 8 Projected seeds. The positioning of those 4 teams will probably need adjustment 2 1/2 hours later at the end of the LSU/Scar game that follows the reveal. The conference race is, of course, important for bragging rights- but, more importantly it sets the stage for the SEC tournament where the top 4 regular season teams will receive double byes to the quarterfinals . It is perhaps highly likely that the SEC tournament championship game will feature two one seeds and the semis will feature two more two seeds . But that’s for later.

For the next two weeks, the focus will be on thee regular season race . The five teams fighting for the tournament double byes and their remaking games are;

NET # 3 SCar (11-1) -Bama NET 25, Ole Miss NET 14, Mizzou NET 78, and KY NET 17.

NET # 7 Vandy (10-2) - UGA 35, KY 17, Bama 25, Tenn 20

NET 20 Tennessee (8-2) - Texas 4, A&M 83, OK 13, LSU 5, and Vandy 7

NET 5 LSU (8-3)- Mizzou 78, Ole Miss 14, Tenn 25, and MSST 34.

NET 4 Texas (8-3) Tenn 20, Arky 103, MSST 34, UGA 35, Bama 25.

For those about to lose (perhaps all) we salute you. Let the games beginning!

Edited after SCar win over LSU.

Oleh Miss has a chance to be the spoiler. They aren't far back, and they are in involved in many of these big games.

By the way, what happened with the postponed Tenn v Ole Miss game? Will it be played?

two 1 seeds are at stake every time SCar, LSU, Texas and Vandy step on the court from here on out from here on. A complete SEC mess could see Michigan enter the picture.
Which would be wild! Michigan is good but I don't see them being in the conversation as a #1 seed.

Okay. Texas at Tennessee Sundays at 3:00 on ABC should move the Vols of my contenders list. Is LSU still on the list? I note that the committee reveal didn’t give them much love.

Vandy a one seed? I guess I can pull for them for a day or two

Barring a surprise SC just locked up the SEC Championship. Tessa and Raven Johnson just balled out and carried them to a win in an incredibly hostile environment. LSU is definitely out of the running and likely will finish in 4th or 5th, setting up a potential rematch in the SEC semifinals.

If Texas is a 2, they are pretty much locked in with UCLA. Can’t go to Vandy or South Carolina region, and can’t imagine committee would put them in Ft Worth.

Of greater significance, that means they are locked in opposite UConn and can only face them in the title game. I think the Horns, unlike Vandy, are one team that could potentially give the Huskies trouble.

Oddly, I think LSU could as well. Though I have not seen them play a great game away from home, they could have a semi-home crowd if placed as 2 or 3 in Ft Worth.

Today's Texas-Tennessee game is a battle between the Quitters (per their coach, Caldwell) and the Softies (per their coach, Schaefer).

We are so fortunate to be able to witness this one.

It will be interesting to see which team takes up the challenge based on recent comments by both coaches. If I was a betting person, my money is on Texas, as I think Vic's tenure allows him more room to criticize the team, even if I don't agree with tarnishing players/team in public.
