It's homecoming weekend, so enjoy. I'm sure there will things going on outside the stadium prior to game time.
The idea that traffic is a problem (being stuck in traffic) at Rentschler is completely false, I've been going there since day 1, and never have had a problem getting in or out, and the longest I think I've ever waited in a traffic line coming or going was about 15-20 minutes which is hardly an issue around something like a college football game, if you've ever been to a stadium anywhere else.
depending on which direction you're coming from, whether it be I-84 E/W or I-91 N you just follow signs for Rentschler and you'll be at the stadium entrances within minutes of exiting the highway.
What is an issue, is navigating your way through the maze of orange cones once you get off the highway and into the facility grounds - and dealing with over-zealous parking attendants waving you in different directions.
For your first time, you'll be amazed at the sheer number of those things they have all over the place, cones - and over-zealous parking attendants.
If you don't have a regular parking pass, follow marked lanes for general or red parking, and you'll be directed out to a general parking area, not sure what the fee is, but those lots are a good walk from the stadium gates, can be as long as a 15-20 minute walk. If you can secure a blue or grey or VIP parking pass online or something, that will keep you close to the stadium.
There are parking opportunites off site of the facility, but I'm not familiar with them.
Stadium lots open at 11:30 on saturday, and I think the stadium gates open at 2:30. Tailgating can be a lot of fun, but no charcoal fires, and make sure you lock everything down when you go into the stadium.
