our 13 commits have been getting to campus. we have several answers we need on the roster as far as who is preping/post and who is on campus. even without those questions the first sentence still stands alone.

which is it?

A-the beat writers are to lazy or don't care to report each kid getting to storrs
B-the school will not allow the beat writers to report and is not updating the media on such events and info

i beg to know the answer to this. these are the days you get miles of traction on media fro your program by manufacturing info to keep and gain interest.

i don't think this is such a hard thing to do or to complain about. i think every other school has writers and twitters and so on reporting this kind of stuff.

what say you?

am i completely missing some source of info or the whole boat?

uconn put out a story today about the gwu transfer for the bball team. nothing for football and the 20+ kids coming to town.

dan - I say that if next to word cuckoo in the dictionary is the picture of a cuckoo bird, and also a photo of me, then.... there isn't a word yet that exists to describe you. This isn't meant as a compliment, or as a critique, it's simply an observation.

With that said, I will agree that as the Athletic Department has been reviewed and revised steadily over the past two years....that the UCONN SID is a position in the athletic department that inevitably needs to be scrutinized as we move forward in this brave new world.

sometimes you have to get info in alternative ways.

http://phonebook.uconn.edu/

I figured that they should be enrolled in the system already. I located almost everyone, except, Britton, Fuchs, Boland, and Wright.

thank you. i know this method has been done before. but this is my point. is the answer to my question A or B. or is it

C-the school has no clue how to pump itself.(pure innocence to college football)

While you have become an insufferable plick and have made this board a tough place visit recently........you are not wrong about this.

Dan,
Given that you know everything already why are you asking rhetorical questions to people who just "don't get it"? By the way that was rhetorical as well, the answer is because you're an .

I addeed him to ignore as well, I just can't take him anymore. He and Observer are the only ones to make me hit the ignore button. And I agree, someone should have stepped in by now.

I don't think he's wrong, but here's the thing. HE HAS the information.

Fire up another Twitter account, Dan. But this time be cordial. There are a few #RollTides out there, but what are there are by the fans. Since you get it, you should be the first one. But again...be cordial.

I think part of the issue is that there are fans who never miss an opportunity to slam the program. Slam the school. Slam the AD. Slam the Coach. Slam the President.

It brings down the overall feeling around the program.

And those pathetic so called fans don't even attempt to get to the stadium.

Agreed, I liked it when he stuck to digging up recruiting info no one had. He's good at it. He just pushes too far with the constant bashing of the school and program, if he dislikes it so much he should go somewhere "big time" so he can be happy, as he's said many times there is no attachment for him so the move should be seamless.

I don't think he's wrong, but here's the thing. HE HAS the information.

The Daily Campus isn't in print during the summer, and their website references Blaney's retirement and UConn baseball playing Oklahoma on Saturday. They don't have a role.

Legally change your name so the AD doesn't feel threatened for their life to interview you, and then apply for the Communications Internship with the AD.

You are already up on the social media aspects of athletics and are passionate about UConn sports. Put this to good use and go for the job.

I hope some kid lands that and rocks it. I had internships for my soph and jr year summers of undergrad in stamford and they were good for me back then. I'm way past that career wise tho.

I want wardes job Because no one including him seems to actually want it.

Maybe they should re-think that strategy as well... I get the actual "print" component but maybe digital?

I don't entirely disagree, but the paper is almost exclusively run by the students with little "professional" interference. Most of the contributors get internships with local TV and newspapers in their town during the summer. My roommate Freshman and Sophomore year used to have a beat covering the athletic department (Not basketball).

Dan should apply for the internship. He understands how to get the program going and growing. He can work at Moe's or something to get by for now. This is his passion, he should pursue it.

Sometimes he is completely off the rails but he knows how to market the school, build the base and sell tickets. He has a great understanding of how to get the job done. He really could make a difference as long as he keeps his cool and acts appropriately.

Fwiw, the board was a drag during Dan's absence. There is plenty to talk about during football and basketball season but Dan provides plenty of subject matter during the offseason. He also keeps this board active by being controversial and persistent, which is good for UConn. It keeps us posting which shows prospects and other fan bases that we care.

I understand you want to know some of this but is it really newsworthy? Do any of the new commits project to start? I'm not trying to be a d*ck, just want an honest opinion.

IMO it is absolutely news worthy. Des is sitting around tweeting about politics on one of the few days in the offseason there is actually something to report on and keep the interest in UConn football going during a slow (and quiet) offseason.

This goes back to my comment in another thread recently. We need administrators that bleed blue. People that love the school will work harder and more desperately in CR and PR.

The Courant needs to hire a homer to cover UConn. While journalism is impartial, there is no reason to put a guy in that position that doesn't bleed blue. A fan/writer will produce more content and do more work because he loves the program and wants it to grow. Dez is insufferable in chats. He is a Cuse fan and a small picture thinker. He just isn't passionate about UConn so he doesn't produce enough content and in turn, he creates less readership because he produces little info for casual fans to read. We need more info out there so that casual fans can learn more about the coaches and players and bond with them. Right now, nobody is falling in love with our players because they are locked away somewhere.

I'm aware of that. He is employed through the Hartford Courant though. His job at the Hartford Courant is to cover UConn Football. It would probably be in his best interest to cover the team if he wants his job to remain relevant enough that the Courant pays him to do it.
