I got home in the middle of the second half and scrounged for this thread and the game. Finally got on GameTracker and enjoyed reading posts near the end of the game. Thanks for the play-by-play, everyone!

Watched the game on Apple TV through my iPad. Resolution was weak but I expected that on the 47" fed through the iPad.

Just listening to the Radio -- but it sure sounded like the Freshman are ready for the big time.

Little Mo seemed like she was very aggressive and confident all over the floor.

Yahoo!!!!!

And hats off to BB, too.

Good start. Nice to get some of the cobwebs out. They all looked good. Steph now looks like one of the quicker posts. We might as well retire the 30 jersey now.

The offense was a little sluggish, execution wise. But to be expected this early in the season with your two main PGs out. Defensively, very sufficating.

This is gonna be a fun year. As Dallas said, and it looks like Rocky agrees, they are who we thought they were. :)

Both Geno and CD with much praise for KML's game...and they weren't talking about her shooting.

Geno noted that KML played harder on the defensive end tonight than she has at any point in her career. He also said that Dolson and KML are the two players who have changed the most since arriving on campus. Interesting choices.

Funny stuff about Stewart :D And did you catch the end where he said (about Stewart, I think), "..You ain't seen nothin yet."

I can't wait until Wednesday when I get to see the team in person! I just hope work settles down a little by then so I can go. This has been a crazy week.

I'm at a conference and didn't get in til midnight, turned on the laptop, and there was a your GREAT game report. I read the entire thing twice. Thanks so very much.

It sounds as if the team has already bonded! How did they accomplish this so fast. Could anyone say a bit more about guard play? Who played point, and how did that work out, with BB and the Hart down and out?

I wish I had a recording of the game. This was one to study.

When she was in there, Moriah brought the ball up court, but the sense I had was that there was no point guard in the traditional sense. It was an equal opportunity game as it seemed as though there were 5 point guards on the court at all times. The ball was just flying to the open man. MoJef, Banks, and Faris all handled the ball well. This was a true team effort and a joy to watch.

Being at the game, I focused on individual players with my binoculars, particularly the freshmen, so I was less aware than usual of the big picture.

Moriah had no trouble at point guard. She looked very comfortable out there. She was very active on Defense. Stuart is so fluid and alert. She made many subtle but stunning moves. One that comes to mind was a block from behind (a la Griner). After the block, she grabbed the ball and fired a shockingly quick outlet pass to get a fast break started. It made one sit back with mouth agape.

Morgan played a beautiful game. She seems to go unnoticed until you look up at the scoreboard. She’s just so quietly competent and her ability to hit the 3, set a screen, and be in the right place all without fanfare.

To me the true star of the game was KML. She just removed any optimism the opposition harbored. Just devastating with her 3’s and defense.

Kelly was, Kelly from last year plus 1. What more can I say. Banks is a different person, all to the good. Stef, Kiah, & Heather had an easy night with their height superiority. Everyone played well. And to think two of our best players didn’t play. It’s going to be a great year for us fans!

With Stef in the high post Geno has incredible options this year because the entire team can make hard cuts to the basket and a shooter will be rotating to the position the cutter leaves on the court. Usually that can happen once in a rotation but with this team every cutter is, also, a shooter and every shooter is a cutter so the rotation just keeps resetting itself. We will see a lot of open cuts or open threes this year as Stef passes out of the post hitting them and if the D backs off of her to fill the passing lanes she will regularly hit that hot from the high post and have great rebounders to put back any misses.

Quite...and with the long arms of Breanna and Kiah, and the power games of Morgan and KML...getting the ball inside will not be easily denied this year...perhaps our biggest weakness last year.

I like this: Kelly in the high post with Stef and Breanna creating openings for each other down low. Yowzer!

Yup, that kind of thing becomes another option. Using that with backside screens against Griner could be very effective with the bigs.

They played a lineup at one point of Faris at the point, KML at the 2, and a front line of Buck, Stewart and Dolson.

How'd you like to defend that?

Sub Stokes in for Buck and that lineup instantly becomes more dangerous.
