Didn't see a thread on this yet so figured I would start one.
Open Championship week at Royal Liverpool aka Hoylake. Last time here was Rory's only Open win, almost 10 years ago at this point.
The biggest worry at this point is the weather; the firm/fast conditions that everyone is hoping for may be difficult to attain given the rain they've seen so far and will continue to see. They've put some internal OB to try to avoid a bomb/gauge fest (Looking at BDC and Winged Foot for an example of that) but I still think this course could be easily overpowered if the weather doesn't hold. A soft course takes all the teeth out of the finishing stretch, especially 17.

Looking for good, long drivers and known mudders to win this tournament. I like the idea of Tommy Fleetwood here, as well as Fitzpatrick and DJ. Rory might be coming off too much of a high. Scottie is having maybe the best season of all time without a major so the dam may have to break soon for him.
Regardless will be a fun tourney, one where the draw matters a lot given the weather forecast. Can't wait to have some coffee golf in the morning.

Going to dabble on

Si Woo Kim (+12000)
Rory (+650)
Cam Smith (+1800)
Brooks (+2000)

I also like to toss a few day 1 leader bets in:
Brooks (+3300)
Cam Smith (+3000)
Tom Kim (+6000)
Si Woo Kim (+8000)
JT Poston (+11000)
Haris English (+11000)

IMO the prices on Keegan and Sungjae are criminal. An auto bet at 100-1. I like Min Woo as well. Took Pieters at 300-1 yesterday and he’s down to 200-1. Also like Hatton or Fleet. Can’t bet Rory/Rham/Scheffler at their prices. I’m always shocked that anyone is 8-1/12-1. How low will JT fall? He’s 80-1!!! Never thought I’d see that. I like a lot of Euros to be atop the leaderboard.

They are priced there for a reason. Keegan has 1 made cut since 2016 at the Open and he finished 79th, Im has one made cut at the Open and he finished 81.

Scottie's odds are low but also low for a reason.

Draftkings has a +300 odds surge, so you could get Rory at +950 instead of +650. That's almost a 50% profit boost.

Perfect setup for Rory. I haven't seen him play better, but he can't close until last week. The pressure on him must be immense since it's going on 10 years since he's won a Major.

I'd like to see Rickie win. He humbled himself, went back to Harmon and put in the work. He's gotten close this year.

Otherwise, the usual suspects and wouldn't mind seeing Hovland break through.

Everything seems like course will be soft and wet. Easier for better players to control distance off the tee and avoid bad rollouts in to pot bunkers or hay fields.

With you on him this week!
FYI if you hadn't heard it, my brother told this me technique that I like when betting bombs like this. Take whatever amount you are going to put on the guy and split it into 2 separate bets. That way if you're in contention late and tempted to cash out, you have options.

Like now! I can cash out a bet for triple my original wager! Gonna let it ride!

When Spieth is on, he is the ultimate Open golfer. Just has every shot and isnt afraid to use the ground. Love watching him play

I don't know if I'd call him the ultimate Open golfer out of today's top players but he does try more different type shots than most of them.

Arguably, the Open is "open" to many more dark horses to win. Weather (i.e. timing of your tee times) has a huge effect on scoring, bounces into the rough and pot bunkers, etc. Except in the Tiger or Watson eras, very tough to pick a favorite. If I remember correctly, Ben Curtis & Phil won the Open because they teed off early in the 4th round and posted a score, while the weather prevented the leaders from matching it.

The large numbers of fans lining the course at The Open is always amazing to me. Great to see. And hear.
