When Doris Burke got pretty heated about the horrible foul called on Boat that lead to his technical might've been the only time I've agreed with or found value in anything she's said.

She just can't shut up and let the game breathe once in a while. I did enjoy her calling out Purvis for having no clue at the foul line, when his game is based on driving and creating contact.

Doris definitely does her homework and is pretty knowledgeable.

I do, however cringe when she talks in her "swag" voice for lack of a better term and calls the guys "Mister Brimah" ala Dookie V.

Because she actually does some damn research, not just screaming worn out catch phrases or talking about free throw form and/or not knowing players' names.
Yeah like Nialls Griffey.

What baffles me most is people got role player "Lasan Kromah" right more often than 4 year player, 2-time champion, 3-point specialist Niels.
I honestly think some announcers just go in blind with next to no preparation

But this pair of commentators have done plenty of UConn games. It's literally impossible at this point for anyone in the college basketball world to be saying the name "Niels Giffey" for the first time.

I personally think Doris Burke is really good at what she does. I actually enjoy when she does Uconn game because she does her homework, she knows what shes talking about, and she actually has a lot of knowledge for the game of basketball. Jay Billas is the only color commentator for espn that I would rather have.

Doris, did a great job in this game and in many of the other games I have heard her do color/analysis. She called outh the foul pointed out the extra step in the out of bounds play. Talked about Brimah's shoulder surgery affecting his ability to lift in the off season, asked about where our attacking defense was all game, and interestingly pointed out how animated Ollie was about some of the calls. I found it odd that the camera was never on Ollie during any of the calls. Ollie should have been out on the court taking the T and defending his best player. She said he was heated but we never saw it. I find it odd

Completely disagree. I think Doris Burke is one of the more insightful analysts on college basketball broadcasts. She's prone to overstating things on occasion, but appears to me as someone who actually does her homework and prepares well.

Absolutely.

Who would the OP prefer?

Some jerkwad who doesn't know how to pronounce Brimah's name?

Seriously, if you are a DI announcer and you don't know how to pronounce Brimah's name it means:

1. You didn't watch the final four last year. or
2. You watched the FF but you can't remember the name of the starting center of the team that won it.
AND
3. You didn't do any homework before calling the game and so you didn't go over the pronunciation of the names of the starting players.

PATHETIC.

Doris absolutely knows her stuff, I just hate hearing her voice on college games. She belongs on the NBA games, its more geared to her 'too serious' tone. She sounds like she's reporting on missile attacks in the gaza strip, when its Rodney Purvis driving the lane

I blame her for introducing 'scoring the basketball' to announcers lexicons. No everyone says it and it drives me crazy

Well, Purvis driving the lane is almost like a missile attack on the UConn offense.

I agree with TRest. She would be so much better if she would give it a rest on occasion. Yes, she is prepared. But she is determined to shoehorn everything she's prepared into her patter. Save some for later, Doris.
