The Official 2025 New York Yankees Thread

Bases loaded with no outs and I told my friends they have no chance. It's the same thing year after year for like 15 years. Totally incapable of getting the big hit. The good thing is the losses don't bother me one bit anymore.
Or at least a productive out.

Yankees are a hr or nothing lineup trying to do nothing but swing for the fences the bases loaded were loaded. I wasn't fooled by the fake hustle effort in the last month.
They feasted on crap teams. They should've put a lineup of contact hitters who get on base to surround Judge many years ago. It's a joke of an organization since The Boss passed away. The thing that stinks is Judge is hands down the greatest hitter of his generation and he'll never win one because of the clown show running things.

I think Boone is awful but had no problem with him pulling Fried. He was struggling to get outs and his tank was looking pretty empty. If the bullpen can't do their job the team obviously isn't going anywhere. It is what it is.
Fried had been walking guys, couldn’t find the strike zone and had two on each of three prior innings. He was done. Not having a lefty RP was the problem. Once you let Boston bring the actual lineup off the bench things change.

He wasnt perfect so what he's paid 240 mill to pitch through the 7th at least take it batter to batter. An ace is paid to pitch when they're tired it's what makes an ace an ace. Fried wasn't being asked to throw 120-140 pitches.

Boone went with the binder instead of haven't a feel for the game, Weaver hadn't been the same since ce he was on the IL earlier in the year. It was a questionable decision at the time.

Fried said he had more left in the tank after the game. Of course he’s a gamer so he’s going to say that but he looked legit pi$$ed sitting there watching Weaver implode.

Boone did have a feel for the game and that's why he took Fried, who was showing signs of fatigue, out. He was at 102 pitches and put two guys on in the 4th, 5th, and 6th. Duran is a lefty batting 7th for some reason so it made sense to bring Fried out for the L/L match up. Rafaela has a flare for the theatrics but a Major League Playoff pitchers should have no worries in getting quad-A 28 year old retiring.

BTW For all the boasting about Aaron Judge's defense and how no one runs on him in the MVP thread, I think that any other right fielder literally keeps Sogard at 1st base. He doesn't score from 1st on Masa's base hit.

Husky25- - Judge hasn't been 100% since he came back to RF! The Yankees knew he couldn't throw as he normally can but figured a 70% Judge is better than the alternative!
An on the play mentioned Judge should have let Grissham field it and make the throw since he was in a better position to make the throw!
Judge won't be 100% till next season!

Boone has a feel for the analytics. Fried was fine, he wasn't too fatigued to sprint to 1st base on his final batter. Wasn't too fatigued to finish the inning. Fried has won a World Series he can handle throwing over 100 pitches.

I normally say that your everyday fan isn't equipped to "know better" than an mlb manager, but last night Cone and Ravech both said that the yanks will jeopardize things when they go to the pen and its what the Sox were waiting for. They even said that every Yankee fan in the stadium felt the same and the wind was knocked out of the place. All were correct

I think what those guys were saying, correctly, is that if you take out the lefty, Boston gets to bring their better offensive players into the game. We started two utility guys in this game and DHd a backup OF. Our 2B played 1B. I think Fried was more or less on the ropes all three of his last innings and his command was all over the place, the only reason to keep him in was to keep the LH bats out of the lineup. It's a roster construction problem if the Yankees don't have a LH RP they can go to there, rather than a Boone problem.

Tim Hill is sufficient as a lefty. He looks like a beaten down middle aged guy who you’d have a PBR with after a tough day at the mill, but he has quietly been good at getting outs. Weaver was lights out last year but he hasn’t been the same after his injury and has flat out stunk against good teams so I’m not sure if there was a glitch with the analytics department’s WOPR system but that wasn’t the move.

Disagree. They just showed Sogard's hit from last night. The ball was tailing away from Grissham and toward RF. I would have liked to see how Sogard rounded 1st. Phenomenally heads up baserunning if they (runner or 1B coach) saw an outfielder appear to ease up to field the ball.

Had no problem with Boone taking out Fried last night but you're blaming Judge for having thrower's elbow and that's silly.
