Hey now, Megill was the starter in one of the team's only no-hitters! All jokes aside, it IS ridiculous that somehow we are in this situation where we are really putting all our hope in 3 rookies who have a combined 5 major league starts under their belt. This is squarely on Senga and Manaea, if those two were giving you quality starts on a regular basis everything changes. The bull pen is less stressed, their is less pressure on Peterson and Holmes to be on their A games every time out, the rookies have less on their shoulders...but they are killing us right now. Manaea has to figure out how to extend his outings and not have that blow up inning. I have more hope for him at the moment, he seems to be fine for 2 or 3 innings and then just blow up. Senga dances in and out of trouble every single inning, and lately can't get out of trouble. Baseball is a funny game though. 3 weeks ago the Mets were falling apart in large part due to having a horrific offense and Soto, Lindor, Alonso and company were struggling mightily. Now the offense is on fire, Soto is being talked about in the MVP discussion and Vientos has gone from being the biggest disappointment to one of the hottest hitters on the team over the last 2-3 weeks. Hopefully it clicks soon for Senga/Manaea and they can rattle off 2 or 3 straight quality starts and build confidence.
