The Official 2025 New York Giants Thread

Overall, a solid start to free agency for the Giants. The highlights have been resigning Slayton to a market-value deal and making a pair of signings on the line and defensive backs.

Here's a look at the Giants free agency, positions of need prior to free agency and new signings in bold.

Now that the dust has settled, I'd welcome Wilson. Plus, he's got a hot wife that my own wife approves of my perceived hotness of her.

This would be the only thing worse than watching Aaron Rodgers at QB next year

This is ideal because the offense will be fun to watch, Nabers will develop, and they'll still be picking #1 to get a QB next year if they can't get Cam Ward

Considering everything, this could have gone a lot worse. If he needs to start all season, so be it, but hopefully, if we draft a rookie QB and play is better than Winston, then he we’ve got a backup.

Wilson and Winston reek of a coach and GM playing for their job and not doing the right thing to build long term success.

I disagree only because it supposedly won't keep them from drafting a rookie QB if they like one I have no interest in Shedeur at 3 though, so I hope they don't like him and just take Travis Hunter.

The desperate move would have been mortgaging the future to get to 1 for Cam Ward because that's the guy who buys them both at least 2 years of job security

Then why sign both Winston and Wilson?

To make sure they never have to put Tommy DeVito on the field again. I wanted no part of Russell Wilson to be clear, I just don't see what long term move they're not making by doing this

As a Pats fan I wanted Sanders to go at 2 or 3, but I don't see NY drafting him. This move screams "we do not like the 2025 QB class and need a bridge to the 2026 class". Daboll's offense really needs mobility and Sanders is not that. Could see a flyer on Milroe later perhaps.

With Sanders dropping, the Giants have an excellent opportunity to go BPA with whoever remains between Hunter and Carter. Imagining a possible pass rush with Carter joining Burns, Thibodeaux and Dexter would be 2007-esque.

Get a QB later on.

Thoughts on the latest info? Seems like a split opinion within the Giants organization.

I don't pay attention to anything that comes out in the last 2-3 weeks of the draft, it's all smokescreens. Ward is going 1 and then if I had to guess I'd put the odds at 40% Carter, 35% Hunter, 25% Shedeur

I get the sense that Sanders will end up being a pretty decent, average QB who lacks major upside. Also, you've got the Deion red flag. Not worth the #3 pick.

Giants did well with Carter. Gotta hope he doesn't turn into Chase Young.

No comments on the draft? Carter was a no brainer? Dart?

Carter and Dart was the perfect 1st round. Dart can sit for a year and learn from Russ, then hopefully be ready to take over next year. Dart might have been there at 34 but you have to be aggressive to get your guy

My question is, will he get enough seasoning 3rd string behind Russ and Winston to jump in next year? If you liked Dart, why sign both of them?

Rumor was that the Rams were zeroing in on Dart to replace Stafford. The Giants have no Day 2 pick now, but they HAD to trade up.

Be that as it may, the question is not if they gave up too much. The question is did Daboll and Schoen save their jobs beyond 2025? Even though the Giants have a 4th place schedule, it is projected to be the most difficult in the league on paper, based on 2024 results. The Giants play six 2024 playoff teams at home and four on the road.

The knock on Dart is he has a hard time processing options if his first read is unavailable. If that was a significant issue in college, look out. NFL defenses are way more complex. Can they afford to sit Dart for a year, particularly if Wilson and Winston struggle? As of today, only Tommy Cutlets truly knows the offense. It will be interesting to follow.

Even passively, it's bad juju to root for another team's starter to suffer a season-ending injury in the preseason.

They still have pick 65 tonight
I thought that was included. Must have read it wrong (I did and didn't. They gave up a pick in rounds 2 and 3, but had two 3rd rounders). Okay, I'd feel better if I were a Giants fan.

I wish they just went into next season with Jameis as the starter, but I think they just wanted to ensure they weren't relying on a rookie at any point this year even if there's an injury
