The Official 2025 New England Patriots Thread

Either Shane Steichen or Mike Vrabel are Coach of the "Year" so far at the 1/2 way mark. There is no #3.

Maye continues to impress. Just makes plays, very accurate can't really ask for more. Without drops he'd be over 300 yards. Henderson is a weapon, but he's just not the guy for grinding out 3-4 yards. It's feast or famine. Even on his big day last week, his average on non-explosive plays was under 1 yard. Had to go to Johnson late so we could actually run the ball. Team badly needs Mondre back.

Defense has to stop giving up TD drives to open the game. Props to Jets for being able to run the ball on the Pats D, nobody else has. Struggled to contain Fields, which is concerning.

1st place in the Division and Buffalo has a tough game coming up. Patriots already went over the betting line Over/Under on wins for the season, which was 8.5. I thought the Nor'Easter rivalry uniforms were fantastic.

I was impressed with his composure and accuracy. I am not sure if he got great protection, no pass rush from NYJ or both but he wasn't under pressure at any point all game and, in man coverage, that's a death sentence.

I saw quite a bit of pressure, but the thing he has learned to do, that he didn't do last year, is just side step or step up and make the throw. He's not taking off like he did last year.

.-.
I liked everything about last night's game, except for the missed FG and the fact that I left Henderson on my Yahoo league
bench.

As a rookie, with a rookie head coach himself and an OC with limited play calling experience, Maye had little, if any, trust in his supporting cast last year. His scrambling was more running for his life by comparison to McDaniels' offense.

Yeah, but he never did this at UNC either. He's been coached out of some previous tendencies. That throw to Diggs from the sideline was Mahomes like.

Harbaugh didn't even try and win that game. He must know he's done as Ravens coach but it's still pathetic to not even attempt to win.

Vrabel damn near gifted the Ravens that game with the fake punt. No idea what you’re talking about.

You don't know what I'm talking about? Henry had 18 carries 128 yards rushing with 2 touchdowns. He drove it down the Patriots throats and scored a touchdown with 13 minutes left in the game to put the Ravens up 24-13 and then Harbaugh pulled him from the game and never played him again.

That was a coach not giving a shart. That's why former players are tearing him apart and his current players can't stand him.

And he said Henry didn't want to go back in.

Where are you getting that from?

“So, I don't like the drive at all. Looking back, would I rather have had Derrick [Henry] starting the drive? Yes. But Derrick was kind of ready for Keaton [Mitchell] to start that drive. And then he was planning on coming in next. So, they were working that rotation.” Derek talked to the RB coach and they decided Mitchell should be in.

But if the refs just call the most obvious DPI call of all time it doesn’t matter. That was the only reason Baltimore had a chance.

Patriots dominated, even if they took their foot off the gas. Glad to see them play so well while significantly undermanned. Diggs was outstanding with a depleted WR core needing him to step up. Maye was a machine. Getting Milton Williams back will feed families. Hopefully Campbell soon too. Shouldn't have much trouble closing with a win at home against Miami, but they won the division with Buffalo crapping the bed at home.

Took their foot off the gas? They were up 35-3 at the half, had 350 yds of offense and called a timeout to return the punt at the end of the half. Then laughed in the sidelines in the second half.

They outplayed the Jets in every facet of the game and were far superior but they did not take their foot off the gas or win graciously at all. I just wish the Jets had the balls to repay that to Vrabel someday.

The defense let up big time, allowing some big plays and long runs. They got soft and lazy on defense with the lead. They literally took the QB out of the game early (which was the right move). They let up.

But to be fair to the Jets fans, they didn't really show up at all. I think Glenn deserves another year, but the Jets acted like they didn't want to be there.

Not sure we watched the same game.

In the second half, the Jets had 5 drives.

1 - longest play was 8 yds
2 - longest play was 10 yds
3 - Hall had a 59 yd td run
4 - Metchie had a 17 yd reception
5 - Metchie had a 18 yd reception

Most other plays were 8 yds or less.

And they took Maye out as a precaution, not to be nice. The MetLife turf could have easily grabbed him for a non contact injury.

I didn't say anything about being nice. It was clear in the first half they weren't being nice. Of course Maye came out as a precaution. The defensive effort on that 59 yard run was pathetic. The defensive effort fell off overall with the big lead. The offense mostly ran out the clock in the 2nd half and played field position football, which is practical.

The Jets have been in tank mode since the trade deadline. The Jets have been "some tepid... off-brand, generic cola." What [the Patriots] are making is Classic Coke."

Incidentally, Drake Maye was on the waiver wire in my four-keeper fantasy league. I lost in the Championship game (after a 2-4 start), but I won my money back and then some, plus have my starting QB for the next 10 years, just like I did with Brady.

Not sure what to make of this yet. Team statement is that they know about it and Diggs denies it. Seems some settlement has been discussed already. My guess is there was an altercation, which the victim has exaggerated to get some cash.

One charge is a felony, which to me is always serious, regardless of what's underlying.

OTOH, while he may have been ghost-suspended for a couple games (reduced play count and targets to the point where he probably won't earn certain bonuses.), Diggs is still on the team. Aaron Hernandez was cut within hours of being arrested and the Patriots were offering fans the opportunity to swap out his jersey by Monday.

So it happened December 2nd and Diggs apparently tried to work out a payoff already? How did the Pats let him suit up and play?

It just so happens, a pure coincidence I'm sure, that he ramped up his efforts the last 2 weeks to secure $500k in incentives (80 catches, he now has 82). Comes in handy with 4 women all pregnant right now....

Yeah but look at the jury instruction and code. This doesn't seem like an unusual occurrence in an altercation between grown men and I would be surprised if it is usually charged, certainly not as a felony. So I don't know what to make of it. Edit: somebody on Reddit said his chef is a woman, and if so, that changes things.

Look at Aaron Hernandez before he murdered Odin Lloyd. There were other murders, fights, he was always high on PCP, he carried around a rifle in his gym bag and talked about how gang bangers were out to kill him, he whacked off in team meetings.

Nothing that happens with that organization should ever be a surprise after everything we've learned over the years.

And nothing with Stefon Diggs should surprise anyone.
