EDD had 35 points and 7 rebounds, as Delaware extended their record to 26-1 overall and 17-0 in conference. I hope to see 1 or 2 games of their conference tourney.

I would love to see EDD play as well. There is no doubt that she is a phenomenal offensive player with so much talent. However, I am not impressed with her numbers playing in the Colonial League and a SOS rating of 51.

We've been through this... their out-of-conference SOS is #1 and she averaged just as many points against top-35 RPI teams.

Do you have a link to listings that show Delaware as having the #1 OOC SOS?

the only good team they played was Maryland and they lost

You mean besides Penn State, which they beat? And top-20 St Bonaventure on the road, whom they beat? And Princeton, which is respectable and was also on the road?

They had the #1 rpi at the end of their conference schedule... The nonconference SOS rankings are behind pay walls which I can't link to....

Let's not forget her International success; she was a monster this summer.

No, they beat three teams that are good. They may not have beaten anybody great - the list is short - or even very good (MD), but they've beaten some good teams.

Delaware lost a close one at Maryland, that probably would have been a win at home. Elena had 32 points, including 20+ in the second half against multiple tall and athletic defenders.

They are not competitive with the top 4 teams but they are competitive with the second 10. EDD is the best offensive player in the country, slightly ahead of Nneka.

Next year, Elena will challenge Jackie Stiles' career scoring record.

Hmmmm anyone who has been around here for more than 2 years knows that I do not like the regular season constant reports of EDD's derring-do; but I do think we can acknowledge that she is a big, big talent, though in a guppy pond, and we can relish the possibilites of the NCAA tourney and her creating buzz for WCBB. Happy she sorted out the angst about WCBB vs being away from home and hope she can carry on after college in womens' hoops.

This is a joke, right?! When I see them (Delaware) play a top 10 team with a good defense then I'll be convinced. And you can quote me when I say this, "Maryland does not play good defense." I can say this because for a "top 10 team" they do not even rank in the top 50 in Scoring Defense.

Well said. I would like to see her put up these numbers in a major conference against physical play found in the Big East. It takes a toll on a player night in and night out. I am not denying her talent and her offensive skills. She is amazing and probably is the best offensive player. But, I am more impressed by KML who plays against top caliber teams and their defenses.

What does that have to do with anything? In their nonconference schedule, they played the current #6, 11, 19, and the team 4th in others receiving votes. You're going to vote for top-10 teams and evaluate strength of schedule based on scoring defense?

Lol....You're not getting my point. Let me try to simplify it. If EDD plays against a team that plays terrible defense (like Maryland) then it's a shootout and she'll probably score 40, 50, 60, etc. points. I would like to see her score 30pts against UCONN, ND, Baylor, WVU's defense. ONLY then will I be impressed.

SOS does not mean those teams play good defense. {I dont mean to pick on Mayland but they fit the point I'm trying to make}. For example, Maryland has a SOS 17 - pretty good, but they are not even ranked in the top 50 for scoring defense. Which basically says they let other teams score easily but have more fire power than the teams they play against which is why they win and are ranked in the top 10.

Btw, I don't really know if Delaware has the best #1 out-of-conference SOS in the country as you claim. But, it would be easy to get it since they play in the CAA -Colonial Athletic Association. Not really known as a power conference. I do not mean to disrespect the CAA, but it is reality.

Um, what conference you are in has nothing to do with how easy it is get to a good nonconference SOS.

And if there is anyone in the country who would score 30 against the teams you've mentioned, it's likely to be her. I think almost everyone here would agree she's one of the, if not the, top scorers in the country. Perplexed as to why you're arguing otherwise.

Ugh! I never said she is not a top scorer in the country and I certainly do not question her talent. If she can score 30pts against those teams then it DOES prove she is as good as her numbers show now. Please note your own key words "likely to" which translates to a big fat ...IF!!!

What conference you are in makes a big difference as to what your out of conference SOS is. Playing in the BE you have 6-8 teams who could be ranked in the top 25-30, same goes for the ACC and Big 12. So, how many ranked teams does the CAA have???

And some continue to ignore her performance at an elite level against elite international competition last summer and the appraisal of some great coaches and players that EDD is the real thing.

I hope your meds include something for high blood pressure. Yuk, yuk, just kidding!

Yes, they have beaten the Big Ten champion in Delaware. That isn't too bad.

Of course she's good. We recruited her.

I suspect that Nneka and BG could easily drop 30+ a night on the teams that Delaware plays. We won't really know how good EDD is until the NCAA tourney begins and we get a good look at her against some lock-down defenders. Will she score 30 with Griner in the paint? Highly doubtful, IMO.

Madden gets her on the perimeter and Griner helps in the paint. That's a tough combo to drop 30 on.
