The more I watch….

All very depressing. Couldn’t care less about any of them. Just deny Duke. Hate those arrogant punk-ass, country-club Ken and Barbie Dbags. When does next season start?
Just by his name, the only school to which Cooper Flagg was going to, was Duke. It's a made up by yuppie parents kind of name. Dislike.

Auburn was sloppy last night but they’ve played very well. Petrified impresses me and I don’t think we’d beat them. If we were able to get by Florida honestly I think believable we lose to someone before the final four because we weren’t dominant. We could play great stretches but just not consistent enough. And personally I think Duke, Houston, Auburn would likely handle us. Anyone can beat anyone on a good day but we’ve had 2 in a row, we should be able to accept losing a close one that we just fell short in against one of the best and most complete teams in the field

Would've been thrilled just to make the sweet 16, a lot of what ifs.
I think we eoulf have beaten a Maryland team in disarray and had a decent chance in even survive the elite 8 but unless we caught lightning in a bottle no way we play in the NC game
But when you consider how flawed this team is that’s pretty amazing that it was so close to another FF .
The big preseason????
1. A good five to share minutes knowing Sampson proclivity to foul. Losing a generational Big in Clingan
2. An impact PG to share minutes and defend with Darria either from the portal or from the freshman class with the departure of Castle and Newton
3. The emergence of at least 2 of last years highly touted class as solid scorers
4. McNeeley is the impact player he supposed to be
3-4 would help with the loss of Spencer
If we scored A’s we would be in the FF
1. A Our 5 production exceeded expectations
2. D We failed to get a true rotation player let alone an impact ball handle from the portal or recruiting class
3 C+ Ball emerged but Stewart didn’t turn into that star I had hoped for . Ross is still a WIP
4. B excepting s freshman to be the consistent load carrier is something we have never asked of any freshman

Karaban didn’t have that superstar year but I didn’t expect that to happen

If we had been able to hold against Florida, we could have gotten to San Antonio. Obviously, having a win in a tournament setting over Florida would be evidence that we could stand up to anyone and neither Maryland nor Texas Tech appear to be anything we couldn't outplay if we had it together as a team.

That said, we never really put it together and we could have just ad easily blown a game against anyone who was still stand when the sweet sixteen began.

It wasn't as if the one team that could beat us got in our way.

I don’t know. To me the Florida game had the feel of one of those games where the better team was behind all game but would eventually put together a run the pull it out. We had a couple of those this year Where we were better but others hung with us but we pulled it out. The tell in those type of games is that the underdog can’t quite make the plays necessary to put the game away when they have a chance. Then the better team makes the plays down the stretch. We are usually in the better team position, especially in the Middling New Big East. This time we weren’t. I never had the feel we would win that game. We had too many chances and didn't capitalize.

13 wins in the tournament in a row tied us with Duke. Beating FL would have made us second to UCLA all by ourselves. That stings. One made three away from having that distinction. Pretty frigging hard to get that opportunity again

Florida showed again today that they will find a way to win. Seems they could be a team of destiny. Getting all the right bounces at all the right times. Two balls bounce off McNeeley’s hands and one or two others that were just chance went their way.

Today there were a few loose balls that went their way but Clayton is the closest thing to Bazz as there has been. He dribbles out to the three point line from deep in the paint gets in shooting position efficiently as heck and fast and bang. That was such a hard shot the three he made at the end of the game. Would love to see the make percentage of that type of three.

True. But we were better than them that day. They got a lot of calls in the second half and won by two. I’d be sleepless for weeks over that if I were Hurley. I definitely felt we got a sensitive whistle. They got many more free throws in the second half. I felt we were mugged repeatedly with no call. We had them. I don’t know how they escaped TTU, but they are not playing up to par.

Of course they have room for a big PG transfer. As it sits right now they have 8 players with eligibility left still on the roster. I would guess 3-4 of those 8 will not be back. Then we have 4 incoming recruits. They're going to need more than just a big PG from the transfer portal.

If they don't get a PG transfer who do you think will be the starting PG with what's left on the roster and the 4 incoming recruits? Mahaney? I'm surprised at your question. This is easy.
You’re easily surprised.

Duke is terrific, and Flagg is so fun to watch. He doesn't force anything and makes everyone else better. Kon is perfect in his role. Hate to say it, but Scheyer constructed a complete team. Kudos to them.

I thought we had it. Really did.

It’s incredibly frustrating, watching guys like Clayton and others like some of the Auburn players getting hero ball shots off with a millimeter of space, feet barely set or in motion, barely even squared to the hoop, and splash. Meanwhile we ran plays and got our shooters good, clear, open shots, and clank.

We were good enough to still be playing, which you would never have guessed, reading this forum during the season. But our best shooters all couldn’t buy a bucket at the worst possible time. Really just needed one more 3 and AK and Stew to dunk the ball.

We has so many open looks at a crucial stretch and just couldn’t make shots. There was one Alex took from the left side where he was wide open and missed so badly it made me lose a little hope we could close.

All these teams left playing have guys that can manufacture a little space with great footwork, side steps and step backs, to get shots off. Our guys just don’t have that and rely on screens giving them air.

Yes, but why do you capitalize "Middling New" when neither word is a proper noun as is the case for the words "Big East."

That would seem to be your tell, unless you can mount a proper explanation or defense regarding what continually comes off as condescension toward a team you otherwise refer to with the second person plural. So long as you are using "we," you deserve more scorn than your favored team's conference deserves your rude labeling.

Nothings guaranteed. Getting by Maryland, Texas Tech and likely Auburn as well as one of Duke, Bama, Tennessee or Houston would be a tall order. Toughest path yet IMO from round of 32 and on.
Agreed. Some here are utterly delusional to say this field isnt as good as last year. A lot of uconn fans have had their view quite distorted. You have 4 heavyweight teams in the F4 this season all with a chance to win it. The field seems weaker because you literally had one of the best teams of the last 30 years win it all pretty easy and the title runner up had one of the most dominant bigs the college game has ever seen and they spent most of the season ranked #1. Bama got hot and NC State was cinderella but i think they were a tier or two below Uconn and Purdue as are all 4 teams this season but they are clearly the 4 best teams in the country and the seedings played out pretty true for the most part. I think this years tournament is as good as last year except you had Uconn and Purdue head and shoulders over everyone and Uconn was head and shoulders above Purdue.

As Hurley once said, they better get us now. Because next season we will be back competing for the NC. I'm confident our team will be back in business next season.
I think when the portal thing is all said and done Uconn is going to be loaded next season. Stewie, Tarris and Solo are going to be big time and a top tier recruiting class will be a great start. Add a couple of the top portal players available and we`re right back in the mix. Hurley isnt done winning titles.

Thought this was interesting. 4 of the 10 best teams on Kenpom (going back to 1996-1997 season when Kenpom started) are in the Final Four this year. So they were head and shoulders above everyone else this season.
