Florida showed again today that they will find a way to win. Seems they could be a team of destiny. Getting all the right bounces at all the right times. Two balls bounce off McNeeley’s hands and one or two others that were just chance went their way.
Today there were a few loose balls that went their way but Clayton is the closest thing to Bazz as there has been. He dribbles out to the three point line from deep in the paint gets in shooting position efficiently as heck and fast and bang. That was such a hard shot the three he made at the end of the game. Would love to see the make percentage of that type of three.
You’re easily surprised.Of course they have room for a big PG transfer. As it sits right now they have 8 players with eligibility left still on the roster. I would guess 3-4 of those 8 will not be back. Then we have 4 incoming recruits. They're going to need more than just a big PG from the transfer portal.
If they don't get a PG transfer who do you think will be the starting PG with what's left on the roster and the 4 incoming recruits? Mahaney? I'm surprised at your question. This is easy.
I thought we had it. Really did.I don’t know. To me the Florida game had the feel of one of those games where the better team was behind all game but would eventually put together a run the pull it out. We had a couple of those this year Where we were better but others hung with us but we pulled it out. The tell in those type of games is that the underdog can’t quite make the plays necessary to put the game away when they have a chance. Then the better team makes the plays down the stretch. We are usually in the better team position, especially in the Middling New Big East. This time we weren’t. I never had the feel we would win that game. We had too many chances and didn't capitalize.
We has so many open looks at a crucial stretch and just couldn’t make shots. There was one Alex took from the left side where he was wide open and missed so badly it made me lose a little hope we could close. It’s incredibly frustrating, watching guys like Clayton and others like some of the Auburn players getting hero ball shots off with a millimeter of space, feet barely set or in motion, barely even squared to the hoop, and splash. Meanwhile we ran plays and got our shooters good, clear, open shots, and clank.
We were good enough to still be playing, which you would never have known reading this forum during the season. But our best shooters all couldn’t buy a bucket at the worst possible time.
Yes, but why do you capitalize "Middling New" when neither word is a proper noun as is the case for the words "Big East."I don’t know. Agreed. Some here are utterly delusional to say this field isnt as good as last year. A lot of uconn fans have had their view quite distorted. You have 4 heavyweight teams in the F4 this season all with a chance to win it. The field seems weaker because you literally had one of the best teams of the last 30 years win it all pretty easy and the title runner up had one of the most dominant bigs the college game has ever seen and they spent most of the season ranked #1. Bama got hot and NC State was cinderella but i think they were a tier or two below Uconn and Purdue as are all 4 teams this season but they are clearly the 4 best teams in the country and the seedings played out pretty true for the most part. I think this years tournament is as good as last year except you had Uconn and Purdue head and shoulders over everyone and Uconn was head and shoulders above Purdue.Nothings guaranteed. Getting by Maryland, Texas Tech and likely Auburn as well as one of Duke, Bama, Tennessee or Houston would be a tall order. Toughest path yet IMO from round of 32 and on.
I think when the portal thing is all said and done Uconn is going to be loaded next season. Stewie, Tarris and Solo are going to be big time and a top tier recruiting class will be a great start. Add a couple of the top portal players available and we`re right back in the mix. Hurley isnt done winning titles. As Hurley once said, they better get us now. Because next season we will be back competing for the NC. I'm confident our team will be back in business next season.
