This line encapsulates why the conference situation is not that big a deal to me right now from a WBB:

Auriemma can continue his custom of booking ranked non-conference opponents in the way Las Vegas books comedians.

And the trips to Texas don't hurt UConn's recruiting.

Now, we do need to be in a power conference in advance of Geno leaving. And the MBB and football teams desperately do right this instant.

Yeah with two of the top 5 preseason WCBB teams for 2014 and some decent potential upswing for other AAC teams coupled with the ability to schedule in a couple of OOC heavy hitters for Jan-Feb along with a rigorous Nov-Dec slate, the next year should be fine for tune-up purposes. And UConn should win both the regular season and AACT championships fairly easily.

Pointless to speculate beyond that because once the major conference wisen up and see that it's WCBB driving the bus, they will start begging hard for UConn to come live with them. Maybe Mark Cuban can help get the Huskies a spot in the NBA.

Well, this hardly strikes me as backhanded:

They are currently one of the most renowned programs in the nation, any game, any gender. Connecticut is to the women's Final Four what turkey is to Thanksgiving tables. The Huskies were led in Tuesday's rout by freshman Breanna Stewart's 23 points and sophomore Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis' 18. And they ain't leaving early for the NBA.

As I read that column, it made at least by implication the argument, almost uniquely outside this specific board, that UConn deserves a better conference realignment fate if for no other reason than the greatness of Huskies WBB.

Y...once the major conference wisen up and see that it's WCBB driving the bus, they will start begging hard for UConn to come live with them.

That would be the day. On morning sports talk radio they never mentioned women's basketball. Yesterday they talked about Griner to NBA for a bit and that was that.

I heard "Mike & Mike " on ESPN radio talk about it. Also the Bower Show on 97.9 in Hartford/New Haven. Pleasantly surprised by that, actually.
