Now that the NCAA has gutted our team, I wonder if they’ll announce that they’ll use current APR data to apply the new APR penalty.

Still would be great news because it will help us recruiting immediately as there will be plenty of minutes available........

The total silver lining. We get 3 new kids for next year who only care about high grades and don't even know we aren't post-season eligible. And one of them is better than any walk-on.

I told a couple of my friends that exact same thing last night. I fully expect an announcement saying we are somehow now eligible for the 2013 NCAA tourney to come out anytime now.

The announcement of our being eligible (if there is one coming) won't come out until after it is too late to recruit even a one armed blind kid.

If this happens does AO and Bradley have to sit out next year ?

Oriakhi will have to sit; Bradley could get a hardship waiver because of his circumstances (sick family member) and be able to play right away.

god i hope this is true.....it would be GREAT news...gutted or not...tourney play would be the best news we could ask for. anything can happen as we saw in 2011.

If they transferred under the understanding that they wouldn't have to sit out, I don't believe they would have to sit out after the ruling was changed. Much like O. Calhoun could back out on his LOI due to the APR ruling.

Edit: I base this on logic, not 100% certain knowledge of the rulebook. The making them sit out due to the NCAA's horribleness would not surprise me though.

This all sounds logical but " NCAA and logical " do not go together.

AO would have to sit out 2 years. One for leaving the program just because he thought UConn would be ineligible and another because he didn't wait to find out for sure. Double Secret Rule 27A.4.(c)(iii)(dd) of the NCAA code, enacted yesterday but applicable to all similar cases within the last 47 years. But waivers can be requested if a player can prove that they were Tweeted into the transfer decision.
