The Former and Almost Husky Thread

Ive seen Floyd the most of any transfer. But I'm not sure he's the best one.
I honestly can say that the only other transfer I ever remembering watching was Alterique in a shockers uni.
Super weird. Had that Chris Carter- Dolphins vibe.

Jalen Gaffney had a good run at FAU. Rob Garrison averaged 10 ppg at Niagara. I think Isaiah Abraham will be ok over the years at Georgetown. He’s really just getting college playing time. Some kids aren’t instant. Alterique Gilbert averaged 10.9 at Wichita State and played overseas for a while.
Abraham looked good early in the Maryland game and then sat on the bench. I’d be patient with him too.

I forgot Floyd was technically ours. Derail as it may, I feel like the NBA has some of the oddest you forgot they were on that team guys. Legends, too. Ewing on the Sonics, Hakeem on the Raptors. Just wrong on every level.

Id love to see a "he wore THAT jersey????" thread. I could've sworn I started one years ago.

Gaffney was a backup on a good team, nothing to lose sleep over.

I do think Abraham will be a good player in time.

Although Adams hasn't shot it well, he's off to a pretty good start.....but we all know he would barley touch the floor on our roster.

Carlton was good for Houston. Both sides helped him move on to a place that would really work for him.

It’s water under the bridge now, but Floyd really listened to the wrong people.

Well, Sanogo altered that trajectory quite a bit...

Somewhat. Sanogo averaged 17 minutes a game. They didn't have any other true centers on the team. Whaley got minutes at C, I guess.

I really disliked Josh Carlton's game for us. He was just a bad fit and it worked out great for everyone that he transferred. Sanogo and Whaley balled out for us and Carlton had a good senior season for Houston.

There isn't a single UConn player who went elsewhere I wished stayed at UConn.

We didn't miss him. He was like every other player who played for Ollie after 2014: Zero player development. Brimah, Hamilton, you can go on and on.

I always thought Carlton was incredibly soft for his size and wasn’t a fan of his game. 7 feet tall and couldn’t make a layup. It was almost as if he’d just throw the ball towards the hoop and hope for the best at times. Good for him that he did well at Houston but I wasn’t sad when he transferred.

Meaning that we had a freshmen Adama, Whaley, and going small at times with Polley and Tyrese getting minutes at the "4." The second Adama arrived, Carlton became a backup at best.

Maybe I'm a sadist or whatever, but I'm always curious how our transfers and near recruits are doing. So I thought, maybe just for myself, I'd put them all in one place. I'm sure I'm forgetting some...

Transfers

Ahmad Nowell

Through 4 games, he's getting 13/mpg and averaging 5.5. Shooting it very poorly.

Aidan Mahaney

Averaging 15 and 4 in 33mpg through four games. Shooting it extremely well.

Isaiah Abraham

Averaging 4 and 3 in 16mpg as a starter for GTown. Thought he'd have more of an impact tbh.

Yousouff Singare

Averaging 3 and 2 in 10mpg.

Apostolos Roumoglou

Averaging 2/gm in 14mpg. Legit thought he'd go to Richmond and be a really good player. Oops.

Almosts

Darius Adams

Averaging 11/gm in 27mpg as the starting 2G for Maryland. Coming off his best game with 16 and 7 against Marquette. He's shooting it very poorly, but is getting to the line six times a game.

Acaden Lewis

Averaging 12 and 5 for Nova.

Meleek Thomas

Averaging 18-7-5 for Arkansas. Not shooting it well, but he's a legit OAD.

Niko Bundalo

Has played five minutes in three games and has yet to score. Super weird recruitment, and he barely plays.
Happy for Aiden. Darius doing nicely for a freshman, good for him getting the starts. Both of their moves worked out for them. Hoping Nowell and Abraham get some more run and have more success.

Adams clearly had some skills and will end up being a player, but he was woefully weak and probably wouldn't have seen the floor for us this season. The perception of having a third Freshman point guard not see the floor their freshman season would have been bad for us on the recruiting front (though I have always said that Nowell got more than an ample opportunity).

You're right..... Roscoe Smith - 29 mpg, 11.1 pts, 10.9 rb

Oriakhi - 26 mpg, 11.2 pts, 8.4 rb, 1.6 bl

Enoch - 2 years at Lville - 20 mpg, 9.5 pts, 5.4 rb

yet we didn't miss any of them ☺️

We had a very good year in 2013, but were banned

We won the title in 2014

And Ollie lost a bunch of recruits (I think VJ went to 4 or 5 schools)

Losing Kelly bummed me out. Thought he was one tough dude. Am I misremembering?
I was a fan of C Kelly. I remember him having the moves and great footwork……. but the ball NEVER went in, NEVER.
