The first two rounds at Gampel

Questions for those of you who have gone to these games in the past:
1. I'm assuming we don't know whether UConn is Fri-Sun or Sat--Mon until the seeding show. Is that correct?
2. In the past how quickly have tix gone on sale after the seeding announcement?
3. How hard was it to get said tix?

As always, this out-of-towner thanks you in advance for your knowledge and advice.

Game Times are not announced until later after ESPN/ABC has reviewed the bracket and determined the best TV times.

I stand corrected. II was Saturday-Monday last year. The SDSU game, which was Paige's last home game, was on Monday March 24, 2025.

You can get tickets now. I forget where I saw it. UConn athletics site? Sorry. The tickets were cheap, less than $50, but they choose the seat. I wanted to pick my own seats for this.

I thought I read that one important advantage of #1 seeded teams is they get Friday/Sunday slots. This gives them an extra day's rest if they make the final four.

The timing of the first weekend games is not always indicative of the timing for the second weekend. In both 2017 and 2018, when UConn was the #1 overall, they were the Saturday 11am/12pm game for round of 64.

Since then, UConn was on Friday in 2019, Sunday in 2021 (Bubble tournament), and then has been Saturday midday on ABC 2022 - 2025 between 11 am and 3 pm, regardless of seeding 1 - 3. I'm positive this is because they know UConn will draw ratings on ABC and they want that as they go head to head timing wise with the Mens's tournament, especially the first weekend.

No guarantee of timing for this year, but history is often a good indicator.

In fact, there was a play-in game in Storrs which received almost no publicity. I actually attended it. It was between Syracuse and (I believe) the University of Arizona, and Syracuse won in a close game. A few days later, UConn defeated Syracuse in another fairly close game. The key shot was a late 3 by KK Arnold, who was fed by Paige after she was double-teamed at the 3-point line.

In the 2nd weekend, the #1 overall seed gets a Fri/Sun slot. That's the only guarantee I know of.

That game would be two 11-seeds. There's no possible way Connecticut would play an 11-seed in the first two rounds. There has never been a play-in game at Storrs because Connecticut hasn't been a 1-seed since they went to 68 teams. This year is a definite possibility, but it would be two 16's.

Lucky wire posted significant analysis from both the NCAA and Creme indicating ASU as the last team in (barely) and I believe playing Virginia.

At this point I just care that we get in the dance it doesn't matter who we play or where we play and I know that's part of the Molly Miller mantra

As to how an 11 seed ended up playing UConn: The 11 seed, Arizona, after winning the play-in of 11 seeds, went on to play the six seed in the first round. Arizona beat the six seed and thus was linked up with the three seed (UConn) in the next round.
