I'd never heard of this term before but clicked on the link in an article about ESPN banning Bill Simmons from Twitter for a few days.

The basic premise is that some teams play better without their superstar (based on Ewing's GTown and Knick histories). The guy who came up with the theory is a huge UConn fan and mentions UConn's success after Donyell left early.

Anyhow, I'm actually watching the World Baseball classic because it makes me sick to watch a UConn-free postseason. It's an older article but I found it interesting.

We did a pretty bang up job of disproving this vs. USF. But then it was our superstar, best bench player, starting center, and a one handed swingman.

Despite two losses to the Bobcats, the Celtics have been remarkable since losing Rondo.
