Huge game from Joey and Diarra in second half.

Newton had a great first half, Hawkins and Karaban were fine in first half.

Second half none of them were hitting shots and all three weren't stopping penetration or making stops.

No problem. Bring in Diarra, Joey C and sprinkle in some Alleyne on D and even Clingan (bad toof and all).

Just nuts.

Don’t want to disrespect this group, but we very much remind me of an upgraded, more skilled version of what Texas A&M had last year. Meaning a legit deep team that could run hockey lineups on teams. And the pieces mesh to the point where you almost had interchangeable parts & could ride hot hands and fit a lot of matchups

Last game it was Alleyne, this game it was Diarra/Joey. Next game it’ll probably be Clingan or Johnson. The best part is they don’t all need to play up to their potential every game, because somebody will have their backs.
Something that is completely different this year than the last few is that when one guy goes cold it doesn’t plague the entire team.

It just makes us pretty close to impossible to stop.

We talk alot about the depth and how it can tire out the other team physically - another important note is the variety of different skill sets and specialties. Typically a team will scout to stop 1,2, or 3 different factors. IE - lets crowd the paint, double Sanogo, body up on Hawk.

The stability we have down low - where we always have an imposing presence on the floor gives all of our lineups stability, but the diversity of different quality skills/roles that we place around that make an effective scout basically impossible mentally... you are going to make mistakes and slip up - its why we see particularly in the 2nd half so many missed assignments and shoddy rotations from our opponents that breaks them.

Not only depth, it was a different style of play. May of been the most blatant attempt to go small all year.
Exactly -- and to refine it a little more precisely -- going small late. Going small when the opponent has been worn down, is running on tired legs and is susceptible to a burst of fresh speed and quickness. As such, it amounts to an end-game tactic that might be used again and again. Joey C and Diarra become far more effective weapons when they are on fresh legs and their taller opponents are dragging.

At one point towards the end when Jackson was in foul trouble he Newton, Diarra, Calcaterra and Hawkins on the floor together. I think it was with Sanogo at the 5.

Really creative lineups yesterday. Coaching staff has done their homework.

We have the ability to force you to adjust to as if you're playing against another team.

Rothstein commented on that. Then posted this. What a ham, but he seems to love UConn.

Our bench is a legit top 25 team. We will have that advantage every single game this year. There's no other team in the country that has a bench as good as ours

Not to bring up soccer, but that's what they said about France in the World Cup, and they started the B team and lost to Tunisia.

Yeah, there's something to be said that I have literally no idea who is going to step up each game and rather that be a problem, it's an absolute strength.

Someone needs to post this on the Perdue Forum, they allegedly think we have no depth

Funny I was feeling bad for Diarra b/c it seemed that with Alleyne playing better that Diarra wasn't playing at all. And then he had a great game.

It matters more that he have a great practice.
