Yes, for a bad football team, if they want to challenge for 8-4 or better next season they can't do that if BS is anywhere near the field.

BS is not a superstar qb. But he is a solid qb, and that's all this team needs. He is the least of this teams problems.

Don't take this as a knock on BS but I still believe pre-injury Lorenzen was the best we've had sine Dan O.

I agree. I also see a lot of Lorenzen in BS. Mobile, not great arms, but make plays.

I have felt he has been hurt for a while. He was just off earlier in the year on throws that stopped YAC because they weren't in stride. He has thrown both low and hi since USF. I will say this - he is a gamer and last night he stood in the pocket much better last night. He is learning as well as the rest of the offense and I think he can go to another level as he learns the game and offense a little better.

If someone beats him out next year, it will be because they have jumped significantly to beat him out

After a nice win like last night, if you insist on posting negative stuff your posting privileges should be revoked until at least one before the next game.

Umm, no way. He's not good, what are you watching exactly? If this was a Jets board people would be arguing how Geno Smith is as good as Brady and A Rodg. Unreal. Some of the least objective analysis anywhere. Please post the next time, which would be the first time, he has a good game against a team with a winning record.

I like his effort, I just hope he's nowhere near the field next year the same way people say that about Graham Stewart.

Lol. He absolutely can be the starting qb for an 8-4 team. Troll harder, Sunshine

Shirreffs was a bit inaccurate last night but the kid is a gamer. I really hope that he puts sliding practice into his offseason regiment because, man, that guy gets crushed a few times a game. But he stepped up in the 2nd half and was a big reason why we pulled away.

I'm pretty sure nobody is killing Shirreffs except one or two people.

It's more than fair to question his accuracy and the clock management issues between the QB and HC.

BS is likely wearing down because he's taken an absolute pounding this season. He's also the main reason we've had a chance to win games this season.

The key is to keep him healthy and his natural growth over the next 2.25 seasons will keep us on a good trajectory.

Why is that a staff thing and not more a QB thing? I was thinking the same thing and since I'm on the press box side I was watching the sideline and the staff was trying to get BS's attention the second time and then they seemed to get it ironed for third down and going forward and were snapping @ 3-7 seconds.

Teachable moment for BS.
If I'm the quarterback,I would know enough to snap the ball with the play clock ticking down to 2 seconds with a big lead trying to use up the game clock. Why wouldn't he as a D1 quarterback ?

The second thing up big with 9 minutes to play we have the ball and on back to back plays we snap the ball with 13 seconds left on the play clock. For a team that has struggled to get plays in on time all year, that was huge head scratcher that they wouldn't run the clock down further.
I didn't notice it live at the game. Saw it when I re-watched it this morning. Given the victory, I found it more amusing than anything else. Had it been a closer game I definitely would have put it into the negative column.

Soph QB. Many throws have been low and behind. The low throws aren't as bad as they don't result in picks. The behind one's limit YAC. Getting timing down with the wideouts will help with the longer sideline throws. The jury is still out but it shouldn't be such a struggle next year. The fact that BS is as sturdy as he is with the rest of the team growing around him has been a major positive for where we are at right now.

I understand some of you don't like reading anything negative after so if that's you stop reading.

Shirrefs is the best QB we've had in a while but going back to the USF game he has missed some throws that concern me about his accuracy. Early in the game Mayala would have had a huge gain and possible score, but BS rushed the pass and threw it behind him. It was 3rd down and we punted when at least we should have extended the drive. He has been missing more of these short touch throws than earlier in the season. The pick 6 was also telegraphed and looked behind the receiver as well.

Great win and Diaco has kept these kids playing hard. Props for that.
Sometines it i just time to go, as the defense makes its adjustments and you make more. also, you can get out of rythym.

You are still playing football. Sometimes it is just time to go, considering offensive and defensive adjustments. Also, losing your rhythm may result in not getting a first down, that you would have otherwise made and which will get you more time of the clock and might keep the ball out of their hands altogether. .
