I believe it originated with Rece and I take it as a compliment and not something derogatory. Rece has been good to UConn and I remember when he ardently defended Calhoun to the outside world after the "not a dime back" incident. Something along the lines of "I live in this state and there is no one who has done more for UConn than Jim Calhoun and he's always out there all the time donating and fundraising for the community - I see it."

I'm with you Bob. I don't mind Rece Davis but that's an inferior name to UConn in most every way. The connotation of that nickname isn't great any way you slice it either.
