I know it's cool for us to have the tourney at XL a couple of times, but attendance blew bigly. Someone on CSNBBS said New Orleans (though his idea of playing the early rounds at Tulane was awful), and I agree. It's a good party town and it could be played in the Pelican's arena.

There is no good solution to attendance. The problem is that no one cares. Such is life in the AAC. Put the tournament in a small venue, ideally in an interesting location so that the few fans that do travel have fun and the attendance doesn't look embarrassing on t.v.

You are CRAZY
Anytime you can get a home court advantage take it
I don't care if anyone shows up
If no one shows up, do you really have a home court advantage?

None of these teams have fans.

I was in Orlando for all the games last year. There was NOBODY until the finals. If people aren't coming to Orlando in March they aren't coming to Hartford in March. 2/3 of these teams wont travel at all and half don't do crap in their own home court. While Hartford isn't the garden city of the north, this is more about who is in the league and our own limitations this year.

You are so nuts I'm like a gtcam post.

You don't want a better chance to win and no opportunity to go to the games for pennies?

Attendance would have been much better if we didn't have a losing record going into the Tourney.

the Fed Ex in Memphis is 1000 times superior to XL in every way. Food, sound, atmosphere on Beale St., location for other schools etc.. it has to be all about attendance at this point as we still offer the best chance for filling seats.

It needs to be centrally located if it's going to draw more than just the local fan base. That's why Memphis makes a lot of sense. Within driving distance for Cincy, Tulane, SMU, Tulsa and Houston. Temple is the only team within driving distance for Hartford..

Make NOLA the permanent spot

Or Memphis

Both great party cities with NBA arenas

No other school is going to draw fans to the games. We showed up in Memphis and Orlando. Fans from other schools won't travel. That's it. Even at msg it was uconn, cuse, nova, and the fans of basketball in general made up for the other schools

No one would go.

Only two places you can hold this tire fire - you can have it in Connecticut and hope UConn stays alive or you can have it in Memphis and hope the Tigers stay alive. (But Memphis had it and screwed the logistics so badly that the American basically fired them for the foreseeable future.)

If they're smart, they talk to Mohegan Sun. Next year in Orlando will be ghost town.

Actually, Mohegan would be interesting now that I think about it. It has the party flair due to the casinos and it is still in CT.

If we had the successful season that was anticipated, then these games involving us would have been better attended, however short of the championship game if we were in it, I doubt any of our earlier round games would have been sellouts. Maybe the semis with UCONN would have attracted at least 12K but doubtful it would have done much better. What was the attendance like the last time it was in Hartford?

Semis got around 10 and final about 13.

People will come to Mohegan Sun for the gambling, food and games. It would sell out and wouldn't be a true home court for UConn men since they never play there.

It would be a de facto home game but yes it would be great to go there.

Nola would be a nightmare. They couldn't even fill a high school. Memphis and Ct are only places wheee you will get any fans. No one in Florida gives a rats about hoops or sports in general. Orlando will be a larger arena with even fewer fans.

Yeah I remember watching the tournament last year, Amway Center was so empty on TV! Really embarassing, on the level of tonight's officiating.

This is quite a stretch. Cincy and SMU are both 7 hours away from Memphis, Houston is 9 hours from Memphis. Wouldn't consider any of those to be reasonable driving distances.
