The UC Davis women’s team will start their season playing against the best of the best, something that Gross hopes will positively impact their season. For fans, this represents a chance to watch a basketball titan, led by legendary coach Geno Auriemma, play in the Pavilion.

Despite the long odds, UC Davis head coach Jennifer Gross is excited about the game. “We see this game as a win/win for us,” Gross said. “We get the opportunity to compete against the two-time defending national champs on our home court. We are not looking at it as a pressure situation.”

Good for her! She's totally right not to take it as the Battle of Normandy or something.

Thanks Pap for the Link.......Good little article. The players from both teams should enjoy the game. Both get a good game in and see where they are in their development as a team. Plus , UConn gets to spend an extra day out west to see a little of the state and play against arch rival Stanford.

Ok Gabby , let's bring a complete pair of sneakers this time. I think coach wants to play you.

Last year's team:

Stewie 3x AA

Stef 2x AA

Bria 2x AA

Kaleena 2x AA

Moriah likely 2x AA

JUGGERNAUT.

Geno: 9 NCAA titles and counting, 2 FIBA golds, likely 2 Olympic golds

They are deserving of the hype.

Once again, they are the best team in sports.

In almost every sport, college or professional, there has been at least one bonafide dynasty. A few that leap readily to mind:
Boston Celtics (Russell-Auerbach era)
New York Yankees (Stengel era)
Montreal Canadiens (pick an era)
UCLA men's basketball
Pittsburgh Steelers (Chuck Noll era)
Oklahoma football (Bud Wilkinson era)

Given a moment to cogitate, add:
UNC women's soccer
PSU women's volleyball
Iowa wrestling

I'm sure there are others, some obscure or arguable. For example, didn't Trinity College pile up a hellacious win streat in something like squash?

And how does the UConn dynasty compare with any/all others? And I invite your attention to the statement in my Boneyard signature, "...still counting!"

You forgot the Cleveland Browns of the 40's and 50's. Ten championship games in 10 years, won 7 of them. That'll never happen again.
Go Browns!

U.S boat, America's Cup, the early (110 or so) years. Assumptions: yachting is a sport; America's Cup sailors are professionals.

no, more like "The Charge of the Light Brigade".
Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the Valley of Death,
Rode the six hundred.

Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell,
Rode the six hundred.

Half a league? Was that an early historical reference to the AAC?
