Ok, we can analyze & dissect the ND game from every angle known man, but the bottom line is this -when 2 starters(Kelly & Doty) play a total of 57 minutes( 28.5% of the team's total) and contribute a grand total of 1 point you are going to win very, very few games against hi-quality competition.
In Uconn's 4 losses this season the team has scored 59, 56. 61, & 61 points for a total 237(in regulation). This is an average of 59.25 ppg - I am sure everyone would agree very low by Uconn standards.
In these 4 losses Kelly has scored 24 points, for a 6.0 avg. ppg. Doty has scored a total of 5 points, for a 1.25 avg. ppg.! This season averages - Kelly - 6.4 ppg. Doty 5.7 ppg. Career averages - Kelly -6.1 ppg. Doty - 6.25 ppg. All of these numbers show that neither player is much of a scorer.
Geno has always said that come tournament time he likes to use a 7 man rotation. I would like Geno, for whatever tournament games we will have this season, bench Doty, insert KML into the starting line-up & use Kiah and Banks as the 6th & 7th men coming off the bench.

Might not work now; I would have liked to see those two coming off the bench from day one(against insignificant opponents). If that had happened, I would assume they would be fully ready to take on a significant role at this late stage of te season.

I think that is a huge assumption, ring. One that goes directly against the process Geno has used for 25 years where the continual mantra is, "Show me in practice and you will have the opportunity in the game." One must presume if one believes that Geno is honest that he is not yet seeing it in practice so they are not being trusted yet with time in the game.

With all the sarcasm I can muster

It's always a great idea to completely re-arrange your team the week before the tournaments. What could possibly go wrong? Come to think of it, we have some great freshmen coming in next year (who have never played one second of college ball) so we ought to just bench all but two of the current starts and wait till the new freshmen get here.

True. You should start your seniors, no matter how much they have contributed all year and sit a couple of starters, including your point guard.

That should help!

Using your 7 man rotation the ideal situation would be for all 7 to score 10 points each and play good defense and should win 70 to 50. Well as we all know it does not work this way. You need some who can score and some who can rebound and some who can pass and have 1 or 2 players who can play lock down defense ( Kelly ) against the best players. You can not just look at scoring stats. But one thing Geno has always said is if you can't score you won't play much.

How can you make that assumption. Geno sees Brianna nd KIah in practice every day and made the determination that they were not ready to play big minutes against the best teams. He also gave KIah and Breanna chances in games against lesser opponents. You don't think he would love to play them more if they were productive.

I think he will expect, assuming no foul trouble, that Bria, Kelly, KLM, Stef and Tiffany will all play 30+ minutes in major games. Caroline and possibly Kiah and Breanna will get minor minutes to rest the top five.

There is no reason that the top five can't play 30 minutes a game. If I am not mistaken ND's five starters each played 30+ minutes against us.

While watching the game at the XL Monday nite ...I saw a variety of combinations . The one that caused me to say "this is the best five " was Stef ,Kiah
KML, Bria , & Tiffany. Scoring & rebounding...my 2 cents.

Jonathan, I think this is close to the truth of what we should expect. Although I think we may see slightly more than minimal minutes from Kiah and Caroline as dictated by match ups and needs on the floor.

To doggydaddy & trisailin - do you have any idea what happened to Tina Charles right before the NCAA TOURNAMENT IN her soph. year??? If you don't I'll refresh your memory - after starting every game in her fresh. & soph. years she was benched
and Kaili McLaren took her place!!

I'm very aware of what Geno did with Tina. The situation is entirely different now. Geno believed Kaili was ready to play and Kaili did what was expected. The coaches have said publicly that some of our freshmen are not yet ready. Apparently you disagree. Further your suggestion of not having Caroline play (not only did you suggest she not start, she wasn't even mentioned as a sub) is silly.

To Trisailin - Sorry but you are dead wrong! Geno benched Tina right before the Ncaa tournament for what he saw as "lack of effort" to "teach her a lesson". He was p!##!??-off at her! If you doubt me e-mail or write to Doris Burke at ESPN & she will
confirm what I just said.

What am I wrong about? Is Geno ticked at Caroline because of effort? Was Kaili not ready to play? Has Geno not said our freshmen are not ready to play in the big games?
As I said - I believe the situation is COMPLETELY different than it was when Tina was benched. Apparently you see it as the same. You are welcome to your opinion - hopefully I'm welcome to mine.
