I'm not a bit worried about Ice. She's a year further removed from her Achilles injury and has a year of experience under her belt. She's really good even if she had to knock some rust off last year. I'm optimistic about El Alfy and Strong The only worry I have is Patterson's shoulder. I'm hopeful about Griffin, but don't expect her to play for a couple of months.

Brady had a knee injury, dislocated patella. El Alfy had the Achilles.

Big is relative in the eyes of the beholder. How many Elite teams have some one 6'6" or 6'7". NOT MANY. 6;2" and 6;3" is the average of the teams and we qualify in that department. Remember, we have two 6'5" recruits coming in in the next 2 years and then we will be BIG. The BIGGEST difference is we have GENO. He molds what he has and creates the best possible performances they can deliver and that has worked pretty good the last 30 years. As long as we have GENO and CHRIS, Uconn will always be in the hunt for a N.C.trophy.UCONN FOREVER!!!! GO HUSKIES!!!!!

Not sure if anything under 6'3 or 6'4 should be considered "big" anymore. Like the men's side the women's physical sizes are changing with each generation. I think of 6'6 or more in terms of "big" for the women now.
I believe [according to official Boneyard measuring dictionary] that anyone with a height beyond 1.10 Hartley Units is considered a BIG, whether they are an adjacent post does not enter into the argument...:D:cool:

UConn will be big again this year. We have size and speed and outside shooting to give any team a tough time. Here’s the potential post players by size:
  • Jana 6’5”
  • Ice 6’3”
  • Sarah 6’3” (or maybe 6’2”)
  • Ayanna 6’2”
And post-adjacent players:
  • Caroline 6’2”
  • Morgan 6’2”
  • Aubrey 6’0”
And long tall guards:
  • Q 6’1”
  • Allie 6’1”
  • Paige 6’0”
  • Azzi 5’11”
This is a lot of talent for a position that has seemed undersized in recent years. And that talent is going to loom even larger once Geno forms them up in tandem with the perimeter shooting talent he will have.

Any forecasts about what sort of offensive and defensive schemes we’re likely to see?
I love the potential! The length of these players and what could develop on the defensive end! OMG!! I hope Coach comes out with an aggressive mindset on defense. Press the heck out of teams!

I don't remember her name, but she was playing BB when she was 13 years old against grown-ups. I believe she is from a European country and her last name started with Vol? She was on the Boneyard and Youtube several times and has stated she wants to o to Uconn. I hope I have given snough clues for some one to know who I mean.At 91, my memory is pretty good, but not like it used to be. Also, I remember that at 13, she was 6'4".

You are probably thinking about OLIVIA VUKOSA, " The Big O", who is 6 ' 4" but is not a recruit for
next year's class (i.e. the H.S. class of 2025). OLIVIA is in the class of 2026 and thus currently is
a JUNIOR in H.S. You can see her listed in the Boneyard thread of " REVISED RECRUITING" from
May 3, 2024. You are not alone; many people think that she is already a Senior because she had
already been to UCONN on unofficial visits, and she plays on the Croatia National Team and thus
has been in BONEYARD pictures with NIKA MUHL and with Nika's sister Hana Muhl who will be
playing with Manhattan College this year as a JUNIOR (transfer from Ball State). People sometimes
think that "THE BIG O" is taller because she plays the CENTER/Post position. She is one of the
top recruits in the 2025 class and is considered by most (and ME!) to be the best CENTER in
that class. If you go to the REVISED RECRUITING thread (toward the top of the BONEYARD
listings) and hit on it you will have to scroll down from the list for 2025 (i.e. the one that
has GANDY (6'5") on it and look at the next list down (2025) and then again scroll down to
the "V" name. I hope you get there. Otherwise just put "OLIVIA VUKOSA - basketball" in for a GOOGLE
SEARCH and most of your questions will be answered. There will be A LOT of choices to
watch her play for Croatia and stuff about her and UCONN also. ENJOY! YOU and I both
are fans of OLIVIA!!

Thank you Zarathustra, she is exactly who I was referring to.I've seen several posts about her and I believe she said she wanted to go to Uconn. In some video clips I've seen, she was dominant in rebounds and scoring. A PRODIGY. Can you imagine JANA, GANDY and Qlivia playing together for 2 or 3 years. A dream Trio. Be still my beating heart.GO HUSKIES!!! GO FUTURE HUSKIES!!! GO UCONN!!!!

Would not be surprised to have a two big lineup with Strong and Ice. In the few videos I have seen of Ice, unlike last year when she appeared to not be fully over her knee surgery, she looked to be in mid-season form. Strong can handle herself as well as most 6'3"/6'4" players and is a sensational shooter. Hoping I am wrong but may take Jana some time to get into game shape. Aubrey and Caroline are more small forwards and may also need time. Should not be an issue since with all this talent, Geno can mix and match as needed. His goal this year is clearly a championship, and he is unlikely to pull all the switches just to maximize the in-season record.

I would agree and this seems crazy on paper but if a team threw a big line up at us, I could see putting Jena, Ice, Aubrey, Strong, and Paige out there.... Aubrey has really good perimeter defense skills and Sarah could hold her own for a few minutes at the 2 IMO. This is similar to when KML was the 2 in the mid teens big line up era.

Not a chance imo. If Azzi can't work well enough along with any of the other guard then the game is lost. To further this, the idea is to have teams match up with UCONN not UCONN match up with the other team. Just using Azzi as na example, Azzi played Clark even. Azzi had a big game her frosh year vs UCF and without it UCONN would have been knocked out. If Paige and Sarah and even Jana are that good, then how is it that none of the guards, can't play well?

Why not force the other teams to not play big against UCONN? Too many UCONN guards.
