For sure. You often hear about talented freshman players struggling to adjust to the speed and length of college players. If the gap is so significant between high-level high school basketball and college basketball, just imagine the gap between an average pick-up game and the NBA. An incomprehensible difference. Not sure whether this helps since we are pondering fan success to score on NBAers, but walk-ons at high D-1's struggle to score in practices and generally the walk-ons at that level are fairly accomplished as ball-players. Our walk-on was an all-city, second-team all state guy, who at 6'7" struggled to get his shot off in practice.

I played at Crandon down here once, they've hosted Senior events I gather, and the greens were rock hard. I'm a terrible golfer but Ok putting and it was struggle to even keep it on the greens let alone make a reasonable score. I already knew from watching in person how much better a pro is everywhere on a course but I had no idea the level that bumps it to, superhuman really.Hitting a couple of fairways, maybe... if they aren't cut for tournaments. And making any putts? Not much chance in tournament conditions. On the same hole? Nope.
We played at TPC RiverHighlands a week after the tournament (in a benefit outing), and the conditions were tournament like. It was brutal. Greens were like concrete. Fairways were too. Almost impossible to hit to a green and keep it on. Stimpmeter was around 12-13.
Aw C'mon. All you need to do is return one kickoff, if the kicker gets his foot into it, but not too much. Or are you limiting it to from scrimmage? If so, never mind.yeah and the average nfl fan could run for 100 yards in a game too
So your point is anyone, including us hacks, can hit a fairway and make a putt on a TPC course.Hitting a couple of fairways, maybe... if they aren't cut for tournaments. And making any putts? Not much chance in tournament conditions. On the same hole? Nope.

To be fair, an average fan can kick an extra point.Aw C'mon. All you need to do is return one kickoff, if the kicker gets his foot into it, but not too much. Or are you limiting it to from scrimmage? If so, never mind.
The best takes in here are either warmly told honest self-assessments, enjoyable personal & non-personal anecdotes, helpful factual perspectives to mute our fantasies, or expressions of humorous sensibility. If anyone thinks they can do anything in pro event they clearly haven't seen it courtside, these takes are insane...at best.
The difference here is an above average golfer can shoot under par at TPC River Highlands in tournament conditions. Is it going to happen everytime, no. An Above average basketball fan will never score 20 in a game. The only place that might happen is in the Chinese basketball league. They might be pros, but after watching some games and betting on them, I’ve come to the realization that they aren’t very good.Hitting a couple of fairways, maybe... if they aren't cut for tournaments. And making any putts? Not much chance in tournament conditions. On the same hole? Nope.

That was your point. I’m partly agreeing, but very guardedly. There are some holes I can’t even reach the fairway, and the time we played a week after the tournament, the fairways and greens were unplayable for mere mortals. So your point is anyone, including us hacks, can hit a fairway and make a putt on a TPC course.
No man, you can't partly agree. I'll bet you made 18 putts, amirite? For a single stroke, a single putt, you and I can be just as good as a pro. Same with hoops. A single made shot is all it takes. That was your point. I’m partly agreeing, but very guardedly. Beautifully written. But if we dropped that last game the thread would've read differently:The best takes in here are either warmly told honest self-assessments, enjoyable personal & non-personal anecdotes, helpful factual perspectives to mute our fantasies, or expressions of humorous sensibility.
I like this thread because it increases my good feelings for fellow Husky fans at a time of the season when we all need to pull the sled together: coaches, players, and fans.
Great thread after a Gampel win against a quality opponent. Go Huskies.
Thats like saying anyone who makes a free throw is as good as a pro. It is simply lunacy. You have to see that.No man, you can't partly agree. I'll bet you made 18 putts, amirite? Nope. He'd position you against the ropes or in the corner, hit you in the ribs and crush your ribcage then break your neck with a headshot.Yeah you’d basically be trying to duck dive dodge for 2 minutes
Nope. Again, if you tried to protect your head, he'd hit you with a body shot that would eviscerate your innards and when you dropped your hands, he'd detach your head from your torso.Out of curiosity, if I get knocked out do I get 1 million dollars (obvi going to get knocked out within seconds).... So I really think the question is 2 part, 1. Would you get knocked out for a million (I think so) 2. Would you die (I think no but I am not sure), I imagine if i completely cover my head he knocks me out still but I survive major injury

That's my contention. If they wanted to lock me down, I'd never touch the ball. If they played to win the game, they'd leave me by my lonesome to chuck all the open shots I wanted. They'd shun me like an Amish kid with a nipple ring.In this hypothetical, is the other team actually guarding me? Because in reality if I played 20 minutes a game, the opposing team would double someone else and let me take as many open threes as I wanted, a small number of which I’d make (though my teammates wouldn’t pass me the ball). If someone guarded me, I wouldn’t even get a shot off. They’d strip me every single time. If I was somehow able to get a shot off, it would be swatted into the ninth row.
Yes, that being said, I’m not getting 20 points in any scenario. That's my contention. If they wanted to lock me down, I'd never touch the ball. If they played to win the game, they'd leave me by my lonesome to chuck all the open shots I wanted. They'd shun me like an Amish kid with a nipple ring.
No one is arguing that an average fan is as good as a pro.

Enjoyed re-watching this video referenced in that article.
The original premise of this post is insanely dumb. Even in that ridiculous hypothetical scenario, it's not possible. Would be curious to see some video of that twitter user playing basketball.
