True - labeled the #1 transfer on the market this past spring. Everyone wanted him and he came to UConn.​

He's better than merely good.

2nd-Team All Big East in 2014-2015 and in only 2 years at Seton Hall (61 total games), he's #4 on career 3P% (.405) and his 3P% last year was 2nd best in Seton Hall's history.​

And he blows Moores scoring out of the water.

I know something from Gibbs and I only got to see the first 7 minutes of the game so far:

• Calm, cool and collected
• Smart, solid ball handle
• Lob to Miller
• Steal and sweet finish
• Drive to hoop and layup

We're in good hands with an experienced 5th year Senior point guard. This in no way takes away from my excitement about Jalen Adams, but I'm really excited about Sterling Gibbs.

I like the idea of Gibbs and Adams in the backcourt together but that would probably come largely at Purvis' expense. We'll see. I trust KO to figure out the minutes and the combos.

This. There also isn't one completely proven superstar so there's a solid chance that we see plenty of nights where one of them is just off and the others are hot and that decision becomes easier. It's a nice problem to have.

It's not that Ricky couldn't shoot. He preferred to facilitate, and to play lock down D. He would be the third best 3pt shooter on this year's team.

But the fact is, in the most important game in his UConn career and arguably the most important game in UConn Men's Basketball history, (Aw hell, let's just call it the most important game in the history of the world!) he shot .600 from the field and 1.000 from 3 point land, while also pulling down 8 boards. (tied with KFree for the team lead in rebounds in that game). An interesting aside on his rebounding in that game, if THE TRAVEL had not been called, he would have had one more, because he rebounded the missed attempt that Langdon threw up as he was being called for travelling.

We have a history of guards who rise to the occasion in the big moments of the big games on the big stage. And no-one exemplifies that more than Coach Moore. I don't care whether it's Gibbs or Adams who rises up at that moment this year, as long as one them has the opportunity to do so.

Gibbs has played 91 division 1 games in his career. Some clown comes in and admits to having watched none of them and says we should bench Gibbs based on a couple of exhibitions, and you guys take it seriously enough to actually debate him? The guy is a punk. Put him on ignore and instantly improve your quality of life.

Gibbs looks like a mature player that understands everything that is happening. He knows he is good. He doesn't have anything to prove in these exhibitions. When things are on the line, he will be a very steady hand. I think he is vastly under appreciated by the OP.

That is exactly what Gibbs is: a mature player with a track record. No, he is not kemba or Bazz but neither is anyone else on this team right now.
I expect Gibbs to start every game with Adams cutting in on his PT as the season goes along. We may see them both on the floor together at times. KO has a lot of combination options this season

I view Gibbs/Adams very similarly to AJ Price/Kemba in 2009. There will be games where Adams' explosiveness is needed, and he'll get more minutes in those games. But unless Gibbs gets hurt or his game completely goes to hell, he's not losing his starting job.

Agreed. There were plenty of early struggles for Kemba and Shabazz so I wouldn't expect Jalen to come in and outplay a proven veteran like Gibbs. It should give Gibbs some much needed rest either by replacing him in the lineup or at least taking over the point for stretches and letting him play off the ball.
